LOL, LOL, LOL, judging from the number per week we get ringing our door bell, a high number of them may not have hear about the "law"....I suppose if we called the police to ENFORCE that "law", the "free roof" folks doing the "free inspections" would be in their truck and out of our village before the police could even arrive. Law will probably be as effective as our laws about applying for citizenship by the legal process. Last week had 2 free roof folks, 3 trim you palm tree folks, and one meat sales person... that was last week !

Does anyone who actually has a 'No Soliciting' sign up know if they work to prevent door bell ringers?

They do it anyway offering a free roof inspection so they can pull up a tile or two an tell you that you need a new roof.

Happens every month or so and just tell them to go away.

We don't have a sign and actually haven't had a door-to-door product solicitor for a long time, BUT a couple who said they live in The Villages knocked a month or so ago wanting to come in and witness and pray. I told them as residents they should know this isn't acceptable, and they replied that they aren't selling a product and the law gives them the authority under freedom of speech and religion to door knock. I checked with Neighborhood Watch and they confirmed that legally that is true. Public streets and nothing can be done unless they become aggressive and won't leave.

Remember, "if it feels wrong/bad, it usually is."

If you feel something or someone on your property is not genuine or appropriate,
Close and lock the door and any other exterior doors, including the garage doors.
Then, immediately report the suspicious person to the Sheriff's Department and then Community Watch. This quick action will bring about a marked unit sooner than later.
Try and make note of age, clothing, height, hair color, sex and race.
Also, direction of travel when you last saw them.
If they left in a vehicle, try and remember make, model and color (2 door/4/door/ truck etc..) and if possible, a license plate number.

Do not place yourself in danger at any time to obtain the info!

Recording doorbell cameras are a huge help as well. If not your camera, possibly a neighbor's.

Yep. Every home on our street. They kind of looked like they were in the age range of TV, but they were adamant they had a legal right to do what they were doing. I told them I made it this long with my religious preferences and not to come back.

Tell them you will let them have 10 minutes of your time if they will give you 10 minutes of their time, but you get to go first. Then tell them you will be summoning demons from Hell to take two souls you promised the Devil and they are due today.

It worked for me 50 years ago when I was pestered by missionaries that kept showing up on my doorstep
