The PUR faucet filter has a little switch to allow you to turn it off or on. You can use tap water for whatever you want, turn the knob/switch/handle to get as much filtered water as you want. It is faster and easier than a pitcher style. It also has a monitor light that is green when the filter is good, and flashes yellow when you are near the end of your filter's life. Change it and back to green. They say to NOT run the hot water through it. The filter is much easier to change than most fridge filters, and probably a lot less $$.
We have used this style for several years and in 3 weeks, when we move in, we will use it again with a whole house water softener.

3 WEEKS .... Yahooooooo!

Hey I also have some air for sale that is much better than the air in The Villages. Why breathe that old stale air when you can have it bottled and fresh.

No need to recycle either because the plastic will break down in days; trust me.[/quote

???? Seriously!

NO....

Now if you did take me seriously (guess you did) then I have some great sink hole land for sale; just add concrete and..instant pool and cheaper than T&D

CarGuys 07-07-2012 11:03 PM

Funny or Not?

I'm not sure how to read you Reply? My original post you mocked was a true statement, When our water was tested the chlorine level was three times that of the local pool. So your right your coffee water might taste better from the pool.

Sorry I just can't feel the humor. And if I'm wrong I now apologize.

There are people that have endured some hardships over the last month and making fun of sink holes isn't a great idea., Your take on clean air, recycling and other water concerns people have asked legitimate questions for on this site might not be appreciated by some.

I can handle myself with your replys but you may want to think of others before you type away.

Just saying.

Obviously it was tongue in cheek re using pool water for coffee. People buy bottled water and all the plastic goes into the landfills and does not break down; again tongue in cheek re air. Maybe should have used bottled sunshine.
Sorry "you" can't feel the humor as humor is subjective.
People endure hardships every day beyond sinkholes.; here or elsewhere.
I will type slower for those that are....

The tap water exceeds all required testing, can't say that for bottled water. Botteled water tested worse than toilet water, according to survey

Water softener

Filtered tap water. Bottle water is no better has too many chemicals from the plastic bottle

justjim 02-03-2013 08:56 AM

More important than the debate of tap water vs bottle water vs whole house system etc. etc. is to drink adequate water each day. Most people don't drink enough water daily and that is a fact. Personally, I think the tap water in TV is more than adequate but to each his own!

I tried using the filtered fridge water for coffee, but didn't taste much difference so quit doing it because it took much longer to fill the pot, but perhaps I should just keep a pitcher of it in the fridge to use for coffee and cooking.

I have a GE refrigerator that came with the house and have had it for almost 8 years. I never knew that there is a water filter in the fridge. Where is it?

John....Does your fridge have the water dispenser on the front? If not, you won't have a filter....

OldManTime 02-03-2013 04:28 PM

My tap water is in my opinion excellent here in the historic district. I wouldn't waste my money on bottled water.

John do not drink that water no carbon can last that long.

In aquariums if carbon is left for more than 4-6 months it actually releases the contaminates that were trapped.

Get it changed please

Tap water is just fine!

We do have a water and ice cube dispenser on the front of our fridge, but no filter.

We were previously drinking bottled water and using it to make coffee. We put an under-the-sink filter on our cold water line in the kitchen. Now we drink that water and use that water in our Keurig.

JP 02-04-2013 03:45 PM

If you have a water and ice cube dispenser on the front of your frig you should also have a filter. Check for the filter either at the top right back inside of the frig or in the kick panel area of the frig. Usually there is a light on the top edge of the frig that shows green when the filter is good but will change to red when it needs replacement.
