Bicycles on the morse bridge are dangerous. Due to their low speed and unpredictable and dangerous inability to fully control their bike.

If the jerko behind me in a cart wants to speed, he's going to learn what it means to drive slow. Try to bully me out of the way and see what happens to the front of your cart. It won't be pretty.:boxing2:

We wonder the same thing too when out on the golf cart late afternoon. I usually maintain between 12 and 18 mph depending where we are because we are out to enjoy the ride. We wonder why both younger than us and older than us are in such a hurry at 6 PM to get where they are going? I've been traveling at close to 20 at times and people drive by me like I'm standing still. I can't help but thinking maybe they have been tipping a few drinks and are a bit under the influence.

Two wrongs make a right? Surrrrrreeeee.

Here's an idea, tough guy, how about simply pulling over slightly and waving them past?

WE ARE OLD, and most of our lives are behind us. Time is of the essence, and one minute wasted going too slow, is like an hour in dog years.
BTW......we know that the Villages is supposed to be the friendliest hometown, but it is also home to the worst drivers, worst parkers, and the most jaywalkers in the world.

Since we haven't been "everywhere in the world" I can't make the same claim as in your last sentence, but after the more than three months total of renting, there does seem to be some credence to the observation that TV has a lot of "bad drivers, bad parking and a lot of jaywalker's." We can't wait to move and change our lifelong ways of trying to follow the rules, because it looks like it's a lot more fun. lol

Save your breath because TV & law enforcement doesn’t do anything to slow the carts down. Just let the speeders do what they want & you just keep doing what’s right! Coming here won’t slow them down. Stay safe & god bless!

My club had a Lt from Sumter Count Sheriff Dept give a talk.

He clearly said we do NOT enforce traffic laws on the paths...we only will enforce DWI on them

Then, when we finally got around after the bridge, I stopped at the stop sign in my cart, waited for one car to pass then pulled out. To my surprise, the bicyclist had caught up, passed the golf carts waiting at the stop sign, didn't stop and weaved out in front of me while I was making my right turn.
I have been in TV for 10 years and I have NEVER seen a cyclist stop at a stop sign. But this one deserved whatever he will get. And he will get it soon enough, and all the cyclists will blame everyone else.

Such a big hurry that you have to pass on that bridge???

Having lived and driven in many different countries and states I would have to agree that Floridians are among the worst drivers. Statistics in the US seem to back this up where Florida always ranks in the top 5 worst driver states and number 1 or 2 in the most car crashes.

I don't disagree but I believe its because Floridians (especially around here) are not from Florida.

Yep, they're getting nearly as bad as golf cart drivers! :ohdear:

Well, when you see me on that bridge, you will have to slow down. I WILL NOT be going over 10mph where posted, and my golf cart is probably way to big for you to try to run over or pass!....just saying......BREATHE....Relax, and enjoy the scenery (AND, if you are worried about a stupid tee time, just leave an extra 15 min more that required under normal traffic speeds!!

Unless there are no cars coming the other way so you can make a wide pass of bicycle guy . Why do you have to pass him on bridge he was just protecting himself and he has the right to be on roadway, and please don’t say be on that golf cart part of the bridge if you fall you’ll be run over by the speeding golf carts tailgating youn

iht2209 - guess you haven't met me. I am a regular cyclist. I stop at all stop signs & look both ways, then take off when it's safe. . When I see a golf cart in my rear view mirror, I stop pedaling so the cart can more quickly pass me - it's safer for them & me. Even though I am cruising nicely on a downhill, I brake before the curve into the tunnel, just in case a cart is coming in the opposite direction & maybe, just maybe, a little over the line. I wear a helmet & have front & rear lights. Life is too short for us to have a disagreement.

I just want to see this oversized golf cart which must be straight out of a Mad Max movie :)

Daddymac 05-09-2020 01:21 PM

I never saw a Safe person riding a Bike yet in TV. They run stop sign they speed and they think they Own the Road. Is they bad drivers in Golf carts ~ Yes. Are they bad riders on Bikes ~ Yes. But the winner is Bike Riders!!
