I usually use bringfido.com. Lots of reviews available and they usually tell you the pet fee so you're not surprised (really Marriott? $100+ pet fee?!)

South to North - Travel from TV

2022 0422 Friday @ 16:56
I am acknowledging those few who mentioned driving I-81 (north or south) which can be used to circumvent I-95. If this does not appeal to you as an alternative, read no further.

TV to Baltimore, MD - Two days, one night

Day 1 (I do not leave on a weekend.)
+ Top off the gas tank in TV
+ Florida 301 to I-10,
+ Jacksonville I-10 to Jacksonville's I-695 (beltway) to I-95 north
+ I-95 (gas along I-95 in Brunswick, GA)
+ I-95 Love's Seafood & Steaks, 6817 Chief of Love Road, Savannah, GA 31419)
+ I-95 to South Carolina's I-26 to South Carolina / North Carolina I-77
+ I-77 (gas at Kroger Gas Station [apparently no membership required] 1025 Roberts Branch Parkway, Blythewood, SC 29203)
+ I-77 to Hilton Garden Inn, 159 Gateway Boulevard, Mooresville, NC 28117 (704) 663-6468 (some pet friendly rooms according to their website)

Day 2
+ I-77 to Costco Gas, 392 Talbert Road, Mooresville, NC 28117 (one exit north of the Hilton Garden Inn)
+ I-77 to I-81 - First I-81 exit has a Love's Gas / Chester's Chicken / Subway, 145 Major Grahams Road, Max Meadows, VA 24360 (Eat in or take food to an I-81 rest stop)
+ I-81 to Winchester, VA Route 7 (east) - many rest stops along the way with rest rooms and picnic tables
+ (optional) Angelle's Diner, 2609 Lee Highway, Troutville, VA (540) 591-7208
+ Winchester, VA Route 7 to Route 340 (optional Costco Gas 251 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, VA 22602)
+ Route 340 to I-70 Frederick, MD
+ I-70 to 10 Monocacy Boulevard, Frederick, MD 21704 Costco Gas
+ I-70 to I-695 Baltimore Beltway

All of the gas stations mentioned are near to the interstates. The Mooresville, NC Costco is visible from the I-77. Winchester, VA's Costco would be visible if the Cracker Barrel weren't hiding it. Frederick, MD's Costco is visible from I-70.

I have said nothing about the beauty of I-77 past Statesville, NC, crossing the mountain pass (the vistas) heading toward the (Fancy Gap) Blue Ridge Parkway and continuing on to I-81 through the New River Valley. I haven't said anything about the beauty of the seemingly endless mountains that "accompany you" north (on the east).

I apologize for any mistakes that I may have made.

Fredericksburg is a good choice; my brother has used that on his trips to/from upstate NY. It was our dinner stop on the drive to Md. Depending on traffic and the number of stops you make on the way (gas, food, stretching) 12 hours is in the ballpark.

We came back from FL on 4/7. We stayed at a Hampton Inn in Fredericksburg. Clean, not far from 95, not too expensive. Good overnight spot.

We like to get the discount hotel book for the state we have decided we will be stopping in.

Tells us amenities and directions and price so we can call to arrange the room for the night.

Stu from NYC - here are the links to the websites you pick-up at those State rest areas! But they are usually walk-up rates, not ressie rates; and charge extra for Fri/Sat nites.
