Don't fret about it. Most of the problems in the driving around The Villages are caused by the snowbirds either not knowing how to drive or the New York mindset of "it applies to everyone except me." The snowbirds will be heading back to their summer nests beginning real soon and sanity will again prevail until next November.

Let the birds come!

The snowbirds can head back anytime! The weather here is gorgeous for this time of year. It is like springtime here. 66 degrees for the middle of March is unheard of for NY. I have shorts on today....workin' on my tan for FL!!

Not sure if snowbirds are the problem. Many snowbirds I beleive snowbirds probably drive more than villages residences.Could be lack of driving by villagers could be the problem.

"Could you say that again"?

This morning as I exited the Duval gate, I entered the inside lane of the RAB and was traveling to the third exit which puts me southbound on Buena Vista. As I was traveling around in the inside lane, I passed my first exit and as I was upon my second exit, a car entered the RAB in the right lane RIGHT NEXT TO ME and was traveling along side. As I slowed down to allow this person WHO DID NOT YIELD to me (I was already in the RAB) and was traveling to my third exit, I gave that person a look that let him know I was not happy with what he had just done. If I did not slow down, I would have been hit on my passenger side as that car continued to his first exit.

Please everyone...YIELD to anyone in a RAB no matter which lane the car is in and do not enter the RAB right next to another car even if it is in a different lane. That is what causes accidents.

I have always said on this message board that I stagger with other cars in the RABs. Slowing down this morning avoided an accident. I do not trust anyone when they are in the RAB with me. I have no idea which exit they are going to take.

Be careful now. I have been in snow storms in the middle of april up north

But I do agree with your post stating the problem here in TV is due to poor design. However having said that since most, if not all of the residents of TV are from other parts of the country, primarily the north then one would have to assume that they are being subjected to the same sort of poor drivers they we find here.

Yesterday I saw a person in a car pull out of the left lane and make a right cutting off the car in the right lane ...onto very busy 441/27.

I saw three golf carts not stop at all for stop signs.

Where did these folks learn to drive?

Why is everyone so surprised that we have our share of bad drivers during snowbird season? They are not used to the roads and they are trying to fit 10 pounds of poop into a 5 pound bag. Drive defensively and you will be fine!!!!!

(See my previous post above)

I was discussing my close call in the RAB from this morning with my sister and BIL. Although my BIL does not agree with the rules, the way he understands it, I would have been issued the summons if an accident would have occurred. I don't understand how that is possible. Why would I have been issued the summons???
1) I was in the correct lane to exit at my third exit.
2) I was traveling the speed limit around the circle.
3) The other car entered the RAB illegally because he did not yield to me, entered along side me and continued to travel along side of me.

The other car would have hit my passenger side if the accident did occur. I avoided that collision simply by staggering with that other car and I did that by slowing down to a crawl as he continued on his merry way around the RAB in the outside lane.

Seriously...would I have gotten the summons if the other guy slammed into the passenger side of my car???

You were doing the proper thing and according to the "newly clarified" rules the other car would have been issued the citation. See POA bulletin March, 2012 p. 4, titled, "Attention: Roundabout Right Lane Drivers."

I agree Gracie. I noticed as do many more failures to fully stop or yield vs high speed.

Especially coming out of the tunnels. Seems if you stop to look you have someone on you bumper peeved!

:agree:

the same as when you are in the car and STOP at the red light before making a right turn on red.
