That is not being honest that is repetitive bashing.
BTW I have lived here 15 years.

My motto:

'To Each Their Own'. or 'Que Sera Sera'.

Sure anyone can have their opinion - but to believe or state that THEIRS is the right one is superficial.

We have traveled thru TV's original section, northern sections, eastern sections, western sections, and southern sections. Appears that each one is populated well and that the residents are probably super happy where they are. Traveled down to Fenney, and the new 30-Villa community near Colony. So, not for everyone, but each will have its target audience and sell out. I kinda like the not-Cookie-Cutter aspect of the new areas.

Certainly DO like that TV is growing leaps and bounds and that more folks will move here and join us in experiencing our unique TV Community. A Community with diversity, inspiration, culture, and appeal.

To Each Their Own.

when I was driving around the neighborhood just before Fenny, I happened upon people who live there and they said....because of all the building and clearing The amount of SNAKES are horrific.

I am sure that will change when the area is completed, but for now .........

seeing one every once in a while is not bad but they are saying its all day every day, every where. She didn't mention what kinds of snakes, but to me a snake is a snake...

Same problem near LSL, including rats, 11 years ago. Problem solved itself after construction was complete.

vintageogauge 06-11-2017 10:26 AM

i've only seen two snakes, one was at the sales office in Lake Sumter coming out of the landscape pine mulch and the other was behind our Lanai in the Village of Charlotte. They will eliminate any rats or mice that would be living around there however I don't like them or rats. As far as the surrounding roads being not safe, most of those people have lived there for decades and generations, there are some expensive homes mixed in with the bad ones. Are there some bad people living there, I'm sure there are however I would be more concerned about some of the laborers within Fenney itself working next door or across the street, I'm sure there are some nasty characters working labor in there somewhere and most likely the same situation when they were building other villages.

Thats a easy one. When you live in NJ and think about moving to Florida and are investigating all aspects of your possible new digs if snakes and alligators and bugs and the like don't come up on your radar then you're not checking deeply enough. Any where the ground is disturbed will stir up rats, bugs and I just learned snakes. I think knowing the snakes are here is important to know before you move here.

We were freaked out by the snake thing until we saw Sammy our black racer doing his thing across our front lawn. No big deal because I was expecting it. Mrs. Nucky didn't like Sammy to much.

Snakes or no snakes I believe we very well may be moving to Fenney. In the next several weeks I'm expecting to get the memo to start packing. We'll see. :2excited:

graciegirl 06-11-2017 11:13 AM

.

There are a lot of people with differing opinions on this forum and most are genuine and not everyone can agree about everything, but the truth is that some of the people dissing The Villages are people selling homes in other areas or have some financial reason to put The Villages down. I don't think it's evil, but I think it goes on sometimes...(I am not speaking about THIS thread particularly, just overall)

AND

Sometime they are realtors who cannot sell new homes. I don't know why my post was removed. It only seems fair to point out, that sometimes outside realtors will try to steer you away from new homes. Villages agents can sell you new OR used.

I don't sell real estate. I enjoy watching how this place unfolds.

I am looking forward to seeing the newest part of The Villages.

I live in the Historic District. I don't want to say that Fenny is far, but when we crossed over 44 we were required to chow our passports.

Mrs Nuckster is the decider here. I'm am whipped and I'm told I like it. LOL. Can we swim-YES, Can we go to activities throughout The Villages-YES, Can I find a way to duck a golf cart somewhere around Brownwood-YES. Drive to Brownwood then cart all over like normal no problem, just have to think out of the box a little and make it work. It's not for everyone. It is nice and new, the only drawback for me is I get a little aroused when I see a Concrete Mixer...keep that quiet please. Living in a construction site is no thrill for me either. Whatever Momma say will happen, Amen? Peace Out!
The real problem is giving up where we are now in the Hysterical Side. I'm going to keep this until I'm sure we're solid in Fenney. Just hope I can swing it without being a landlord. We have such a good life I don't want to screw it up by having a tenant. Living over here Hysterically is Heaven On Earth. Peace Out Again!! :1rotfl::mademyday:

The best way Mrs. Goofy is on your own then you can wander around at your leisure then see from the Fenney gate to The Mother Ship is a Hop, Skip & a Jump. Someone had a real concern about safety the other day, mentioned carjacking...I don't think so. If anyone has anything in mind they better worry about the people who live there already, they seemed ready to protect themselves. Triple Peace Out!!!

Rapscallion St Croix,
Your post was so clever, humorous and well-spoken. I loved it and chuckled all through my breakfast. Bravo👍

Bog99 06-12-2017 06:31 AM

As a future Villager (am going through absentee homeowner hell with a place Silver Lake) it cracks me up the lamentations about travel times; here in Brooklyn is takes an hour go "anywhere", and that's on the Subway, plus a half hour of prep for the expedition.

Yes, there is. You can take the trolley from Brownwood Sales Center. I am buying there next February and was down last month for a Lifestyle Visit. You have to have vision for Feeney. I live in Atlanta now, and I have seen this happen time and again. Just wait!

Fastskiguy 06-12-2017 07:41 AM

I admit I didn't read all of the threads but...for the out of towners, can you drive a golf car to Fenny ? Thanks :)

hulahips 06-12-2017 07:43 AM

no and even if u can down the road it will take a long time

A more complete answer is yes all of the new sections south of 44 will be golf cart accessible.

Multi model paths are being designed/constructed. These paths will be connected to existing paths at multiple locations.

The driving distance from RT 44 to Fenney is less than the distance from Rt 44 to Spanish Springs.

I love the first quote ..... and my perspective is that The Villages planners have been pretty "spot on" for the past decade or so and I'm curious to see how they will make Fenny work. They are building like mad and obviously anticipate high demand in the near future. So many of the homes are the lower end models with lanai to lanai in the back - I was surprised at that. Time will tell.

I'd read all the previous posts if I were you. The answer you were just given was from a "Never Fenney" member.

vintageogauge 06-12-2017 08:33 AM

They are not all lower end homes although that is what sells. There are 3 sections that are designer homes on water, quite a few built, quite a few sold, and quite a few lots on the water have been sold, these lots were between $99,000 and $139,000 and the homes between $400,000 and $600,000. Also once Buena Vista is completed it will be a lot faster to take a golf car from Brownwood at 44 to Fenney than it will be from the same spot to Spanish Springs or maybe even Lake Sumter Landing as that is how they will cross the turnpike via a bridge. Further east there will be tunnels under 501

Cool! Maybe by the time we get down there it'll be accessible by golf car. Thanks :)

We have a water shortage and they are adding 20,000 new homes?

thevillagernie 06-12-2017 09:11 AM

according to one of the Morris's there will be no Square they said on channel 2

contiki98 06-12-2017 09:58 AM

I believe they do. I was down there on Saturday and saw one of the Trolly Busses driving through.

There may not be another square in Fenney, but with all the "future villages" south of 44, which looks like more land than between 466 and 466A or 466A and 44, I suspect there will be another one in the future (maybe 2)

vintageogauge 06-12-2017 10:22 AM

Here's a rumor. A contractor not affiliated with TV told me they are building a Mall/Shopping Center at 468 and the Turnpike and it will be anchored by a nationwide retail store but did not know the name, again, this is just a rumor. However, if you take a look at the east corner of the 501/468 intersection you will notice that that land, unlike any other section being cleared at this time, has been cleared, turned over, rolled, and leveled and is now perfectly flat, quite a few acres. My personal guess is that corner will not be homes but more likely a commercial section. I was also told by one of the TV salespeople that land running parallel with 468 where the older original homes are located has been zoned commercial and will be built accordingly assuming that the owners are willing to sell their land. Thoughts?

Surprised?
I just came from Havana CC to LSL, on Canal St. and saw many homes with lanai to lanai, in the back where most lanai's are located.

I too drove the long drive and had the same impression; sure would not be a location of interest to me but seems to be selling very well ! Probably just spoiled by being so close to everything, so living out in "farm country" would be quite a shock. ONE restaurant ? Can't stop by Mickey D's in the golf cart ? Probably folks moving there are from large metro areas and looking for the isolation ?

vintageogauge 06-12-2017 01:35 PM

I was told by our agent when we bought that a lot of the sold units went to people that already owned in TV, our neighbor in Fenney is on their 5th Village home.

It is five miles. How far is it from Hadley to 466?

Smart people, getting prime lots ahead of the crowd and before the assured infill occurs.

vintageogauge 06-12-2017 05:57 PM

we have already met several of them and in addition our agent bought one.

1. Ain't saying it's far, but my clothes went out of style on the trip down.

2. Despite The Villages describing it thusly " . Nestled in oak hammocks and overlooking wildlife preserves and springs, the Village of Fenney is old Florida at its finest." the above description only applies to the first two hundred yards. It is a facade through which one drives to reach a desert where all the vegetation was stripped and replaced with palm trees.

Noteworthy is the number of covered wagons stationed along side the road all the way down, denoting that TV is the claim owner.

Just reporting what I saw. No opinion offered as I am happy where I am and wish the same for all.

I visited Fenney with friends who were looking to build in TV. We were shown a model by one of the sales agents. While the inside of the model was very nice, the area surrounding Fenney is terrible--delapidated houses and trailers with yards strewn with trash. Our friend said to the agent, "This is garbage. Why did you bring us here?" If it's true that Location, Location, Location sells houses, what were the developers thinking? I would never live there. Our friends want nothing to do with it.

I would guess that most of, if not all of the surrounding area will be owned soon by TV. Also, Fenney will connect to the rest of TV within a few years.

vintageogauge 06-12-2017 08:52 PM

Yep, you gotta feel for a lot of the people that have lived there all their lives, possibly several generations of their families. Some will be more than happy to get more for their property than they ever expected it to be worth but others will be losing their life long homes and their ways of life forever. Not everyone will be happy. Our northern home is on 4 acres and they just cleared out the woods behind us for a housing development. In our case we lose a view, privacy, quiet and worst of all the value of our home will decrease considerably. So be it, not much we could do about it.

Have you been outside of TV, it has old houses and trailers also. TV is surrounding us with more areas to explore. Think about what people said from SS when LSL was being built. My grandparents had a trailer somewhere near TV 50 years ago, its how this area was started (it may still be sitting on property somewhere).

TV is changing how FL landscape will look many acres at a time. I liked the at the end of the world in Fenney of course it won't be that way for long. Still thinking about it.

vintageogauge 06-13-2017 06:42 AM

Did anyone go to the open house at the Fenney rec. center yesterday or plan on it today. If so, any comments. We unfortunately had to come back north awaiting furniture to be delivered before we can come back to stay so we had to miss it.

OhioBuckeye 06-13-2017 07:34 AM

I drive every Wed. on my golf cart from north of 466A to Silver Lake, not a big deal, I'm retired so what's the hurry. If Fenney is to far don't go over there it's no different than anywhere else in TV. Then you clothes will stay present & not out dated. Seriously, TV is getting really big & I know a lot of people that did move out of TV because of that.
