I think the title of the thread is misleading and frightening to people who are looking at buying here or are newbies here. It also paints an unnecessarily grim picture for people who might be selling their homes that are truly "in the middle of TV".

For one thing, "dump" indicates residential or commercial/industrial waste, as in rotting and stinky and many, many trucks going in and out that would disturb the peace with noise, truck braking, hydraulic lift noises going up and down, etc.

If this is a construction debris landfill or above-ground construction debris disposal site, then CALL it that.

And be more accurate about where it is. Lake Sumter Landing is truly "in the middle of TV", and that is not the area in question.

You'll never know! :-) Not sure really. Could be six feet under at a tee box.

Exclamation Dump (Transfer Station) in the Middle

If you think it is only construction materials at the "Transfer Station" then you need to sit outside at McDonalds on 466A and watch the landscaping company trucks go up FULL and come back down empty. It is a BIG compost pile that has repeated problems with the rotten egg or sewage smell in the very hot summer days. If you ask the developer sales reps they tell you that it is a transfer station where they take all of our recycling to it and then transfer it to Orlando. Part of that information is correct but they leave the lawn clippings, etc. behind as a compost dump. So if you are golfing in that area during the summer and smell something like rotten eggs or sewage, now you know what you are smelling! Our winds generally go from east to west in the summer so houses west of that area have had a smell around them also. So it can be a problem for folks!

My wife and I took the Village trolley for a ride last year. The "tour" guide had nothing but good things to say about The Villages of course. What I didn't like was his assertion that there is virtually NO crime here. What a lie that was.

OK, we need to get to the bottom of this:

Mr. Developer, what is the final state of the "dump", will the material remain there, will it be collected up to a point in time and then transferred to another off site location? If the material remains on site, are there any concerns about decomposition (wood, paper, etc.) or leaching into the environment (wallboard, metal, plastics, etc.)

So hopefully someone associated with the developer, will provide a suitable response to end the rumors and conjecture.

Just my thoughts.
