Unfortunately, it does smell. You can smell it when you are driving along Morse Road or when you are golfing at one of the adjacent golf courses, or when you are at the Sarasota golf center, or at one of the many houses built nearby.

When the pile gets big enough the Morse family plans to dump snow on it and build a few chalets around it. It's to be called the Sonny Bono Memorial Ski Village.

Will there be a Cher chalet?

In 1998, after Michael Kennedy and Sonny Bono were both killed by skiing into trees, someone with administrative rights (I have no idea who it could have been) created an email account on a USAF Exchange server and sent out the following email to everyone on base.

From: The Trees
Subject: Stop the Logging

We will continue to kill one celebrity per week until the logging ceases.

You are right, there is a smell occasionally but it not coming from the landscape landfill. It is coming from all the (wet damp) earth being moved/graded for the new executives courses. It is very noticeable when earth moving work around the ponds is active. For example there is no odor today. The occasional odor started with the construction a few months ago.

It makes no sense the developer would place a smelly garbage dump in the middle on The Villages.

:agree:

Show me an area where there is no crime and I show you a cemetary.

Someone asked me last if there was no crime in TV. I replied, "very little crime", is more accurate.

Back to the dump...... er, construction debris.

Best looking landfill (construction material) around surrounded by golf courses and sorry but N0 smell.

This is it--exactly. It smells like sulfur, and not sewage. Still gross and unpleasant, but I know that as soon as they're finished moving the earth around over there, the smell will go away.

Agree. Have been many many times running up the hill that is now a tee on Volusia. It is a wonderful place for a view and is odorless.

Some RC model members took used lumber there recently and the dump refused to take it because it was treated lumber. So they must be pretty picky about which construction materials they accept.
