I would have thought that The Village Community Security patrols would be able to observe speeding carts and actually DO something about it. But, they are probably busy "doing nothing all day" and night. So, I also have seen carts whizzing through 20 mph residential streets at 35 and pushing 40 mph. It's like they are modified with superchargers and soon they will be doing "wheelies"! Tom Cruise had "a need for speed" and that movie must have rubbed off on many Village People.

The Village Community Security personnel do NOT have police authority so they cannot do anything about speeding golf carts or any other law being broken. They have no more police authority than you or I. Their purpose is to be extra eyes and ears for the police.

Guilty as charged. I DO like to put thoughts into writing. It helps with organizational skills. As to CV, I hope that there comes a time when no one in TV Land has to mention it at all. But, someone smarter than all of us said that those who ignore history are doomed to REPEAT ITS MISTAKES. CV is in the books about our recent History. I can't be blamed for that !!!!!!!!

I live below 44 and see dump trucks all the time on the road and the drivers seem to be very courteous and responsible drivers. The drivers you need to worry about are the ones that shouldn't be on the road due to diminished eyesight, reaction time and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. If you can't keep up with the flow of traffic and let large vehicles intimidate you, it is time to turn in your driver's license and sell your car. I worry more about the nervous Nellies because they are completely unpredictable.

I know that - I am just saying that their situation is so lightweight as to possibly NOT be worth the cost of their riding around. And if they REALLY wanted to see things, don't do it in a car or truck. Ride a bicycle like Engish bobbys do or used to do. Or a quiet motor scooter or motorcycle. THAT makes you MUCH more AWARE of your environment!

Now that you have covered CV in great detail, does this mean your new topic is Community Watch?

When our world becomes problemless, we can all just do crossword puzzles at a swimming pool. But, if our world ever seems problemless we may suspect ourselves of having advanced stage Alzheimers or maybe we are sprouting wings and flying around clouds.
I don't see a problem with discussing problems. That seems like the definition of a forum.

With everyone driving like maniacs to get in front of the snowbirds..combined with seniors in camaros and vettes driving like it's 1973 again these dump truck guys take the cake.

Can we all slow up a wee bit?

These speeding school buses in TV are getting on my last nerve:bigbow:

They work for a living...Just stay out of their way :)

Until last year, I traveled southbound on RT 23 in NJ every day. About 16 miles of it then on to Interstate 287.

The quarries were up in the mountains where I lived, and the tri-axle dump trucks hauled gravel and such down to the "metroplex" of Bergen and Essex counties.

There are fleets of these trucks, in snow, ice and heavy rain, almost always exceeding the speed limit, in poorly maintained rattletraps.

Once every few years, one of them would come into my town down Breakneck road, trying to avoid police. This is a 27 degree in places 2 mile downgrade vertical drop of about 850 feet. One of them even managed to make the corner at the bottom of the hill and only took out half a dozen vehicles with no fatalities.

Seeing a dump truck on with a courteous driver here in Florida warms my cynical bones.

I did this for many years. They are mostly paid by the load. The pay is low this is Florida. Then there are those who want to impress the boss. Best to stay away an let them work.

Agreed

They do speed. Who wants to share the road with a caravan of speeding dump trucks?
