We love our laminate flooring installed by Darrell from East Coast. The owner leaves a lot to be desired. There was a scheduling issue and of course it was "our fault".......NOT!!! The workmanship was outstanding and might consider them again, but once the date is determined for the install, never ever, ever let them change it.

Baseboards were removed and reinstalled and the flooring looks like it was installed originally instead of an after-thought like it would if you have the quarter-round.

FloorMasters did whole-house laminate for my wife's mother & dad in Belvedere. They liked what they got, and so when we bought our home in Stonecrest we had them tear out all the carpeting in our new house and install laminate. They gave us a good price, plus an extra discount because they had previously done my in-laws home. We are very happy with the price and service. No complaints at all.

I've, had both of them do installs (one did tile, one did engineered lumber flooring) and were happy with both of them, however I'd give the edge to East Coast Flooring.

Flooring that is installed on a slab should be done with quarter round. Reason being, wood expands and contracts and at least 1/8" needs to be factored in for that expansion. If not, after a time buckling might occur. A friend of mine insisted that her installer remove the baseboards and had to have the entire floor replaced after two years. Not to say it will always happen, but problems can occur. Be careful.

I'm going to strongly disagree, 1/4 round is a unprofessional shortcut.

U remove the moldings leaving the gap has nothing to do with it.

I have 1/4 - 3/8 all round, the old molding goes back on the gap is still there.

I think your friends installer did something else wrong.

ONE important point a moisture test is really needed by any installer if they say they don't need or use them, keep shopping

From watching all the Home Improvement shows,, talking to installers and other builders. Depends on the size of the baseboards. Small baseboards you do not want to put Qtr-Round. Do not need it and does not look right. My wife's sister just built a brand new home in Ocala. No Qtr-Round installed at all. So I would guess fromt the other post above that the builder is wrong, and the floor will fail.
I do not see the thinking in that deal.. Maybe just me...
East Coast took all baseboards off and sanded and repainted them. They look amazing.

East Coast Flooring installed wood laminate in our home last week. I can't praise them enough. The floors look perfect. The baseboards were removed, painted and then reinstalled. We needed the quarter round against a Murphy Bed and they matched it perfectly. They arrived on time, finished on time, and cleaned up after themselves each day. The price was totally competitive.
