I’ve had a home here(6) since 2000 even if I haven’t been here all the time , but the list is long of failed politicians who tried to challenge the villages growth and I’m glad for that

That’s why they caved and narrowed Meggison from a 4 lane to a two lane. Not only were roundabouts eliminated but there are now only 2 lanes on what was designed as a four lane road.

Don’t hold your breath. Clermont and Mt. Dora would also have something to say from a county almost three times the size of Sumter in population.

Yes, they lack the clout at this point. Every Lake County commissioner is against The Villages expansion in the county. Any that would vote in favor of decapitation of Leesburg as the county throne would not only be committed to political suicide, but would incur significant threats to life and limb. Plans were scrapped by the developer to place any roundabouts on Meggison after the Homestead recreation center because of the rule. I don’t see it ever happening.

Maybe I could ask you, “Do you ever see Ocala giving up their power to the Villages?” It is about along the same guidelines. You know it isn’t just Leesburg by the way? It’s Estes, Mt. Dora, Clermont, Groveland and and others. The population is almost 3 times The Villages of Sumter County LOL.

Been here almost 4 years now and it does seem to me that if the developer wants something he has the clout and the smarts to get it by hook or by crook as the old expression goes.

i enjoy going out of the bubble and exploring. Some nights, I do not want to deal with the traffic. It would be nice to have a restaurant close that serves meals a step-up from processed hotdogs, burgers, sandwiches, and fries. I'm not getting any younger. I can't eat those types of food.

Really?

Where elsr in the Villages had the developer put 4 lane road through the middle of Villages?

Meggison was planned as a 2 lane local road.since well before 2020.

Bexley Trail was clrarly planned as the 4 lane regional connector for to the 470 and the turnpike.

maybe it’s not too late to buy your home back in Palm Beach. Fl , I’m sure they don’t even allow the help to eat hot dogs .

At our age, if you can still eat hot dogs, burgers, pizza, sandwiches, and fries, God Bless You! My body does not digest those foods as easily as when I was younger.

I am just being real! On occasion, a hot dog, burger, or sandwich is fine. There are no restaurants in the southern area that offers healthier foods. It would be nice to have one or two.

Do you mean Morris, maybe Buena Vista, Warm Springs? I guess plenty have 2 lanes each way. Yes, the original plan does show Meggison as a 4 lane road.

The map at the link looks like it shows Meggison as 4 lane until Bexley Trail then 2 lane. If Lake County outlawed Roundabouts, I wonder how the road builders at county road 455 and the turnpike got those roundabouts approved??

Fenney Grill and McGrady's Pub offer more than fast food options.

Fast food doesn't mean bad food or food bad for you. I've eaten some pretty unhealthy food at nice restaurants over the years. Just give me selection and let me choose what I want.

Of course you are talking about the widening and the state right of way for the turn pike? I imagine the county has little to work with there.

you just drive down the dirt path next to the sidewalk. Legal- no but people do it all the time. We even asked a sheriff officer if he would ticket us and he said no but a different might. You can always park in the parking lot on the west end of the Brownwood hotel and walk one block
