You are spot on. Netflix only needs about 5 megabits per second of bandwidth for 1080p Hi-Def. It is, however, adaptive and will adjust the resolution to the achieved bandwidth to prevent buffering delays.

It’s not really any of my business, but I hope they’re didn’t talk you into paying for that high of tier if you don’t need it. Mostly kids playing video games or people streaming from like 5 devices at once need that speed.

But hey, if it came as part of a bundle and it fits your budget, that’s good too.

Fast forward to The Villages - have used Comcast here for the past 23 months. Amazing speeds (100+mbps download, 23-25+mbps upload), nearly NO downtime, apps that self-diagnose issues and solve them - plus, called customer service twice, had amazing, friendly service. I don't know if it's the location or a re-commitment to customer service - but as an IT guy, they've got my vote!
Interesting, the last time I spoke to a Comcast Service Rep she was located in Indianapolis. In addition to fixing my issue, we had a nice conversation about the Colts (that is IF you can have a nice conversation about the Colts),

Worth mentioning that I just saw a Spectrum (Formerly Brighthouse around here) TV ad claiming that the have boosted their starting internet speed up to 100 mbps. That’s crazy! Something to think about for folks that have the option to move to Spectrum.

There are two questions to ask in order to answer "Is this good?". The first question is what download and upload bandwidth is your vendor suppose to provide? Secondly, what sorts of things are you doing that upload and download to the internet? For most people you probably have more than sufficient bandwidth.
