Default White sandy beaches in TV?

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the retention pond on Bailey Trail just inside the Sunset Pointe gate suddenly has what appears to be white sand all around the shoreline. Does anyone know why they put the sand around this pond?

The ponds are down due to the lack of rain the last 6 weeks. The sand has always been there, you just couldn't see it because the water level is normally higher than it is now.

The ponds have a rubber liner and the sand is placed at construction to cover the liner.

Bob....not sure that was sand. I think it was "pond scum" residue that appears as the water level recedes due to lack of rain/golf course watering. Residue from runoff/fertilizers etc. Not very attractive.

Saturday's .5 inch of rain has done wonders for the ponds. I'll be riding by that area today and will be curious to see if it looks more normal.

I could be wrong...just my opinion.
