I am a resident of Juniper Villas in the Village of St. James. One of our residents is returning from her deployment in Afghanistan and we are planning a welcome back party to be held at Sterling Heights on June 18th. Because of limited funds, we are searching for a band or DJ that is either very reasonable or one that will provide entertainment free for this returning vet. Below is a little information about our returning vet:

Since 2001, Angie has deployed 6 times. Angie is an Aeromedical Evacuation Technician. In layman's term, she is a flying paramedic. She is on an aircrew of seven. The crew makeup is: one Medical Crew Director, two nurses and four medical technicians. The Aeromedical crew duties are extremely stressful. Angie has seen things that will remain with her forever. She has witnessed the horrors of war up close and personal. One of the hardest parts of Angie's duties while deployed is that she works in a flying hospital. When a wounded warrior experiences inflight medical complications, there's no phone or computer to contact a specialist. No emergency button to push to notify a team of doctors. At 30,000 feet, it's the Aeromedical crew and the wounded warriors.

I think it would be great if you could let us know when she will return and where she will be so a group of people could be there and welcome her back. I feel as a society that we have let down the people who risked their lives for our freedom. I am sure a lot of people would be honored to line the parking lot and/or the street. Please keep us posted on the plans.

you might contact ralph di nome of Flashback! he has done several good deeds for charities and especially the Honor Flights for WWll vets...i think he has a painting business if you can't find a web page for Flashback....ralph does have a facebook page.. his daughter dawn di nome is also a popular vocalist here and sings at St Vincent de Paul every weekend i know if he cannot do it for free he will at least try to give you a fair price....good luck!

I will be leaving before her return, unfortunately. Feel free to contact Robyn or Joan for more info. There is a planning meeting tomorrow. I know all the residents are planning to greet her as she enters Juniper Villas and they will all be waving there flags. We are very excited.

Sounds like the Airforce para-rescue. They had a show on National GEO, I felt for them cats every time I watched that show. Was called Inside Combat. One of the better shows I watched dealing with the war in Afghanistan.
