Executive golf course weekly scrambles
I understand that there is a weekly golf scramble at some of the executive courses. Does anyone have knowledge of these? If so do you know how I might be able to register for one as a preview guest? I'll be there from a Sat. to the next Friday. Thanks.

Re: Executive golf course weekly scrambles
Russ -- I'm not sure, but I think you need to use the tee time system to register. If your goal is to meet some people, you'll be paired with people anyway. And, if they give you a choice of exec courses I'd recommend Truman. We played it the other day -- very challenging and a lot of fun. (I admit that my opinion has a lot to do with the fact that I played with my husband and 2 other men that day, from the same tees and played very well!) The vistas are wonderful too.

I didn't think I'd be able to use the tee time system since i'm not a resident? I'll check into it.

Re: Executive golf course weekly scrambles
I saw something at the La Hacienda rec center that indicated Preview People COULD get access to the Villages WIFI. Since access to the WIFI is gained by residents using their id & pin just like the golf system, you MAY get access to the golf system too.
If not, ask your sales person - they may be able to get you in or I know that at MiraMesa on Tuesday mornings they almost always need last minite replacements. Again not sure if it's even allowed but worth a try as it is enjoyable. The executive men's day scramble is one of my favorite activities.

Re: Executive golf course weekly scrambles
Russ,
I'm not 100% positive, but, I think the exec course scrambles are limited to residents only, but, as aln suggested, you could go to or call one of the courses and see if they get any last minute cancellations. Here are the courses they use for ladies scramble...men might be the same: Heron, Pimlico, DelaVista, Mira Mesa, Saddlebrook, and one of the far north (Walnut Grove???). They run 3 shifts...745, 915, and 1045; you throw in 2 bucks for prize money and optional $1 to participate in closest to the pin hole....in addition to any guest or trail fees you might owe.

Re: Executive golf course weekly scrambles
Could be wrong but I believe the executive course men's days are for residents only. Your life style "punch card" allows 2 executive or championship plays. Personally I would play Palmer and Lopez championship courses as they are the highest green fees that you could play for free. Your sales-rep will arrange t-times for you. I also heard that you can play beyond your 2 freebies at the championship courses by paying the priority rate (least expensive) during your stay. Don't know that for sure but will look into it. Have fun and look at the entire villages while you are here.

Re: Executive golf course weekly scrambles
The golf web site states that the scramble is for any resident or guest, that is why i asked. The web site says to use the tee system but you do need an ID.
I will ask my agent. I plan on using the two championship vouchers as well. Thanks to all for the input. |

Re: Executive golf course weekly scrambles
Russ........I think the web site www.golfthevillages.com mentioned residents and rental guests meaning "renters". Check with your sales rep. though. You had a so-so day today.....83 at Cane. You were doing well until the back nine when "the wheel fell off the wagon".

Re: Executive golf course weekly scrambles
Russ - did you find out if you could book tee times at the executive courses on your Preview Week (after you used up your two freebies)? Did you manage to join a scramble? We are anxiously awaiting infromation about your trip (especially the golf).
Any other information that you can supply us about Preview Week golf would be much appreciated? (your favorite courses?) |

Re: Executive golf course weekly scrambles
On our lifestyle visits we were limited to the championship courses. We were told the executive courses were for residents only.

Re: Executive golf course weekly scrambles
I didn't try to get on the execs. I think Tom is correct.
I only played Havana (shot an 81). Great course. I've detailed the preview week experience elsewhere (search on my recent posts) |
