It is fewer miles and usually faster than going to Wildwood if you live on the eastern side of The Villages. Perhaps someone has better instructions. You also save a turnpike toll.

You're correct, jojo - it is CR 468.

There's a jog in it a short bit after the turn off of 466A. Just follow the signs and it'll run right into SR44.

Bill :)

Then south on 301 (thru Wildwood) to the Fla Turnpike, east to Orlando and exit on 528, east to the airport.

BTW, 528 is a toll road and is among the most expensive per mile in the country. However, ANY other option thru Orlando to the airport is a disaster. 528 does accept ez pass.

NO EZ PASS

gwscott 04-03-2013 03:41 PM

ez pass

I think you are thinking of sunpass ez pass not accepted anywhere in Fl.

YES, it does. I use it twice a week. There are even exits where you can't pay cash and have to use your SunPass to get off.

For clarification:

" I have a transponder from another state (i.e., FasTrak, E-ZPass, TollTag);
Can I use it to pay my tolls here?

No, the electronic toll collection system in the State of Florida (E-PASS, SunPass and LeeWay) is currently not compatible with transponders from any other state. However,E-PASS, SunPass and LeeWay (Lee County) are compatible with each other and may be used on toll roads and bridges throughout Florida."

Sun Pass. Pick one up at publix . It's easy to activate it over the phone.

shcisamax 04-03-2013 04:58 PM

I believe it does accept ez pass because i have a sun pass and ended up going to cash because I was afraid i didn't have the right "pass". The toll collector told me that sun pass and ez pass both work.

SunPass and EPASS (see the link in lndlocked post #20) are compatible. EPASS is different than E-ZPass.

Here's an article from a few months back about the efforts to get the SunPass and E-ZPass systems talking to one another:

SunPass tolls: Florida, North Carolina E-Zpass tolls - Sun Sentinel

Didn't know there were so many different passes. SunPass is the one I use on the turnpike each week.

I picked up a portable Sun Pass at Publix and funded it online at their web site and it was ready to go. They have a mini pass which is cheaper ($5) but you cannot remove it from the window to move to another vehicle if you need to.

E-Z Pass is a cooperative toll transponder that's in use from DC north up to Maine and east-west on the NY, PA & Ohio Turnpikes. Each state has a dfferent name for it. I am very disappointed that FL is not part of this group, especially when so many come from the northern states to FL.

The FL-SunPass website says that "they are working to resolve issues" with the EZ-Pass system, which I'm guessing means that FL wants something different from all the other cooperating states..so don't hold your breath for it to get resolved any time soon.

No, but it does accept the Sun Pass - you can get that at Publix.

ldj1938 04-04-2013 11:19 AM

528 DOES NOT accept EZ Pass. They do accept SUN PASS though. EZ Pass
works from MD North to Maine, and West to Illinois. Would be nice if they all worked together.

You should have scrolled down another 10 postings to see this:
