Default FEMA Assistance Letters

We have received two letters from FEMA telling us we have applied for FEMA assistance as a result of Hurricane Irma, one of which denies our application for said assistance. The house itself had no damage and we made no such application. Has anyone else received these letters ? Yesterday we sent them a letter telling them " no way, Jose ". Is anyone else dealing with this situation ? Do you think we should do something more ?

A new scam is among us related to the recent hurricanes. Residents get letters (or emails) such as you did (but they are not REALLY from FEMA). When they check with the phone numbers or email address conveniently provided in the letters, they get a pitch that always leads to them having to pay, up front, some money for an already approved FEMA grant! Stories and details vary by scammer but they are all scams. You should never have to pay any of YOUR money up front to get a FEMA grant or any other government grant. I suggest you take your letter(s) to Seniors Vs Crime and let them look into them a little more.
