Default Finally - Moving To TV!!!

My wife and I will be closing on our house here in VA on Oct. 29. We will be driving down with our two dogs and plan to spend the night about half way down at Port Wentworth, GA. We will be renting a house in TV for the months of November and December (the renter has agreed to let us move in two days early). Our house in Pennecamp will be finished and we are set to close on Dec. 13. We plan to get a few things done before we actually move everything in sometime between Christmas and New Year (if it doesn't snow). We are so excited to finally be moving down and looking forward to meeting everyone face to face that we have been in contact with through TOTV. We were down last week to pick our house and colors and all that stuff, and actually met a couple that had moved down the week before from our home town that we had not met before. The world just keeps getting smaller. We know we are bringing too much stuff, but just can't decide what to part with. I foresee a HUGE garage sale in our future.

Hopefully, we will be able to meet most of you at Crispers on Nov. 19th.

Default Congrats

Been following your posts and are so happy for you. We plan to be there by end of 2011. Your journey has helped us along with all of TOTV.
Have rented a home for the month of March and hope to go to the Crispers lunch then to meet some of the witty, crazy, smart and very kind people on TOTV.
ENJOY

We know how you must feel -- excited, anxious, overwhelmed at times, then excited again! Congratulations --

Helpful hints for those with more stuff than space or need:
1. Anything related to snow or snow shoveling can be safely left up north. If your buyers aren't from a cold climate, you may want to leave the stuff with them -- they will thank you later.
2. If you're thinking about giving something to a friend or family member, go ahead. If they tell you they don't want it, you don't want it either.
3. If you can't recall the last time you used it, don't pack it.
4. If its torn or worn, don't pack it -- toss it.

Don't forget Goodwill, Salvation Army, or any local charities with your leftovers that you don't sell.

I'm all for the "Pitch it, pitch it" school!

A died-in-the-wool pack rat, I brought way more stuff to TV than necessary. Most, if not all, of what I didn't need remained in my TV home, cluttering up my garage and/or master bedroom closet(s).

Then, a couple of weeks ago, my two daughters announced that they were going to visit me, together! Implications were that I'd have to create space in my den/study for a third bed!

Wow! I've shredded more unnecessary ancient documents in the last few days than I even knew existed! I've cleared out old clothes which should have gone to a thrift store 5 years ago! I've donated two old computer processing units which I "couldn't bear to throw away!"

It's still happening! But, my study/den is suddenly more spacious! My filing system is more flexible. I've got way, way less "c***" than I used to!
