Don't have a "dog in this fight"...but, wondering why Tap190 is getting beat up over the question/concern about the fireworks
JMO, but one should be able to pose a question, without being heckled.

Yep... I'm new on this forum and I couldn't agree with you more! I'm sure I can't be the only one watching this bullying and thank you for standing up and being the first to say so....

Post Thank you

To all of you who replied with civility to my original question , I thank you. I was concerned for my dog .I guess that makes me the "butt of jokes" to some. I'm really surprised at the reaction my question received from "Florida's friendliest hometown'.--Patrick

Community Watch is not a police agency. They have no authority to do anything other than "watch." The best they would do for you it to call the sheriff, and you can do that yourself.

People have somehow begun to believe that Community Watch is a police department and can deal with complaints of this nature. They have no more authority than you do. Consider them the same as civilians with a CB radio in their car.

Darn it, Whalen,

Now you've got me getting ready to go waxing all nostalgic for TOTV the way it used to be. (sigh) Oh well.

But, please, please, please do not go looking for fun in all the wrong places.

One of the reasons I've stopped replying so much. You can get "beat up" pretty quick from what is intended as a friendly question or reply. It's ashame, but that's the way it seems to be (IMHO).

I LOVE to laugh.. Sometimes what I say to other people, they may not think is funny. Then I will come back on and apologize for my comment or status. Not tell them they have no sense of humor trying to get them going again.

I don't know the people on this forum and for the most part they are pretty AWESOME... but in every forum, you get your Trolls... You learn to ignore them and go on.

I hope some day you will change your mind and post again. There are not enough people on this forum posting...

I think my comments were rather benign in comparison.

tap190 I totally agree with you about fireworks causing distress in our domestic animals as well as wildlife.. They have nothing to do with the spirit of the Fourth of July. I'm sorry that you were ridiculed by posters after you simply asked a question. If it were me, I would call the Sheriff ASAP. TV is too densely populated for rocket's red glare to end up on someones's roof.

jgbama, Don't give up posting! I enjoy reading your posts; I was wondering where you had been recently. And for what it's worth from a TV Wannabee, my suburban Chicago cat starts hiding about 3 days before Independence Day when the firecrackers/fireworks start in my neighborhood, and he keeps hiding for about 3 days after 7/4 as that is usually when everyone has run out of firecrackers/fireworks. So I understand why some people are less than fond of amateur fireworks displays by their neighbors.

The last time the Villages had fireworks was 1999. Then they said no more.

Really? Fireworks have nothing to do with Independence Day???

Read and Learn..

The day will be most memorable in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival…It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade…bonfires and illuminations (fireworks) from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore.

So wrote John Adams on July 3, 1776 to his wife after the Continental Congress had decided to proclaim the American colonies independent of England.

Fireworks were associated with Independence Day celebrations even before the signing of the Declaration.
