For the first 30 years of my life the Confederate flag was only a symbol of Southern heritage to me. I didn't fly the flag because I'm from Illinois. Then some people decided the flag was a symbol of white supremacy, and only white supremacy. Why must the white supremacy reasoning now be the only reason that the flag is displayed?

That flag is called the St. Andrews Cross. It is not a symbol of racism or slavery. It's, as mentioned by the OP, Southern Pride. If someone flew the ISIS flag, or a BLM flag y'all wouldn't have the b*lls to say a peep.
So look the other way if you don't like it.

So what’s the problem here? Real southerners (born and raised in the southern state) are proud of their heritage, not something people have made up about a flag. Freedom of speech.
If it offends you, turn your head away and look at the road instead.

Who only wanted to be left alone to carry on their way of life. They were still US citizens when war was declared upon them.

Relax and move in.

If you’re offended, move out. What offends me is all the other types of flags that are being flown around this country.

When we lived in Virginia, we would often visit the Civil War battlefields, with Gettysburg being our favorite. The Florida monument is one of the smallest state monuments but it is my favorite because of this meaningful inscription:

"Like all Floridians who participated in the Civil War, they fought with courage and devotion for the ideals in which they believed. By their noble example of bravery and endurance, they enable us to meet with confidence any sacrifice which confronts us as Americans."

Even though my ancestor Lewis Dear fought for the North, I definitely respect people honoring their ancestors who fought for the South.

Welcome to the Villages.

Those flags have been there for a long, long time and they are on a pole on private property. The owner probably has just as many opinions as those posting on here. There are bigger issues we face then the flag someone is flying on their property along an interstate.

Though they have the right, I don't understand the need for people having to display their ideology. In my neighborhood there is an American flag flying with a picture of our former president in the middle and before that they had a flag with Go Brandon. It doesn't bother me. I just don't get it. What's next a Nazi flag.
