I doubt there are not a LOT of snowbirds who will ALWAYS be snowbirds.

How could they just keep leaving this beautiful place????.......... and someday their grandchildren will go away to college, as ours did.

Here is a wish that all snowbirds will become frogs and will take their rightful place here in lower paradise.

One sign is when Gracie (Our poet Laurete) prints her "birdie Poem".:cold:

Gracie Rocks!

Beware, the snowbirds are coming!

njbchbum 09-10-2015 05:45 PM

First indication? When posters here start whining that lines are longer, tempers are shorter and tee times are not available.

simpkinp 09-10-2015 08:10 PM

We had a hard time finding a parking space at 3:15pm today at Lake Sumter Landing. I think the "early birds" may be here...

And I eagerly await our first golf game. :girlneener:
P.S. For those golfers who are cringing in anticipation, I'm not much of a golfer, but I know enough to play Ready Golf. :D

Thank you

I started this thread for some lighthearted fun and enjoy the responses. Thank you to all. I wanted something that we could all be less serious and it has woeked.

This trip home, I can tell these birds are getting closer to being frogs. My he grands are growing up. Our kids are so busy with their work and raising the grands --just as it should be. There is a natural progression to life -and to the snow birds' migration!

As Canadians and "resident aliens", the U.S. government restricts us to living in our Villages home a maximum of 182 days in a calendar year. For us, that is usually Nov. 1 to May 1. And for that privilege we feel blessed. :ho:
You Americans are very lucky to be able to stay in Florida for as long as you want!

And just think, we paid Spain nothing to acquire it.

Does a Toyota with Maryland plates on the golf cart path count?

Saw it around 1:00 at the gate house in Hillsborough.

Definitely. Unless they stopped by the closest tee box to wait for their assigned tee time.

Ready Golf and attendance at Good Golf School are crucial to being a good neighbor!:gc:

One fact of life in TV that many do not think about....the slow season population of 2015 is bigger the the busy season population of 5+ years ago. So the businesses that were here then and making it are doing just fineyear around!!!

ronat1 09-11-2015 07:31 PM

The arrival of snowbirds directly correlates with the fall arrival of the love-bugs. The departure of snowbirds directly correlates with the spring arrival of love-bugs.

Only half of the cars that speed past us will have Florida plates.

AND people wearing open collar button downs, little black dresses and heels out to dinner. Instead of the universal villages uniform of golf shirts and shorts.

Plus yesterday someone stopped dead, right in the middle of a roundabout.

Probably not a snowbird, but maybe a notfromtheseparts.

MrGolf 09-12-2015 11:35 AM

Agreed. I have witnessed many many fill time residents who believe it is their right to take three swipes to get out of a trap and then walk away without raking like they are avoiding the plague.

Actually, we prefer "Winter Floridians" out of respect for our contributions to your economy. Some of us graduates even prefer Winter Gators ... Indy Gator

People never stopping at STOP signs, either in cars or golf carts...
Oh wait... that happens even when the seasonals aren't here !!

FOLKS... please be considerate... STOP means STOP.. it's not a suggestion, it's the LAW.

Was it street Legal? Many of us put old license plates on our Golf Cars to show where we are from, and we live here year round.

billethkid 09-15-2015 02:01 PM

Coming toward TV from Rolling Acres to the Morse Blvd. light.
Backed up for three light changes!!!
Starting to remeber to return home via alternate routes.

I had to go testify in traffic court one day on a citation I had written a kid on running a STOP sign; when he got in front of the Judge, the Judge asked him if he knew what STOP meant? The kid tried to be smart and responded "squeal tires on pavement" and snickered when he said it; the Judge didn't find it the least bit funny and suspended his license, fined him and made him go to traffic school. I worked too many serious injury accidents and fatalities from people running stop signs in my career.

How do I know when the snowbirds are back?
I see men wearing shorts that are not two inches above the knee.

We know it's snowbird season when we have to leave 1/2 hour earlier for appointmments because Bailey Trail is backed up to the Sunset Pointe Neighborhood pool and we can't get out of our street.
