sounds to me that the officials of sumter county have found something else to fix that wasn't broken...just sayin', ya know?

Just not sure why we are such safety extremists, here in TV. In my entire life, I have never lived in a place with such low speed limits, yet we are still talking of driving too fast (at 20 or 25mph ????) and how dangerous it is on TV streets.

I believe speed limits can be too low... We have passed that threshold, in my opinion.

In the announcement of the speed limit changes; included the information that all signage will be changed beginning in January 2012. Are some gettng the cart befor the horse.
Also, isn't it true that if the speed limit is 25 most are driving 28-32 and the same at the other limits?

I think what was broken was the inconsistency in neighborhood speed limits in Sumter county.

Neighborhoods from Bridgeport at Lake Sumter southward have a 15mph speed limit, which, IMO, is way too slow.

From BLS northward, neighborhoods are predominantly 25mph.

Villa neighborhoods have their own limits.

Wrap us all in bubble wrap so we all are protected from everything and nothing is our responsibility or fault and nobody else's either and everybody is perfect. We'll all sit around in our perfect bubbles in our perfect world waiting for our perfect lives to end in some perfect manner. No more worring about round-about lane changers, speeders (both car and cart), pooping dogs, youth golf cart drivers, the unsavory youth on the squares, after hours poker players, snippy wait staff, incompetent cart drivers, snowbirds filling up our spaces, etc, etc. BORING

Literally my car idles over 20mph. On those unposted roads and or posted at 20mph or below most drivers will have to stop their car turn off the ignition and push their vehicles until they come upon a posted roadway again. Can you get a ticket for pushing your car above 20mph? Hmmmmmm

I checked my speed at idle (650 RPM) and my speedometer registered 6 MPH. If your engine is idling too fast it may tend to shift to a higher gear thereby increasing speed.

BTW, let me explain before I am told I have too much time on my hands. I did this little test in the Walmart parking lot while my wife "ran in to pick up a couple of things".

I have now contributed to the crime of poaching on this thread but seeing as I am the OP I am pleading no contest.

The residential area of my Village has a 10 mph speed limit. My car idles at 10 mph, so no problem. I do have to try to be careful to remember the 10 mph speed limit when I am in my GEM.
