Speak to your doctor -- only he/she can provide the information based upon your medical history.

TIA

You can request an order from your doctor for a lab to draw your antibody levels and then decide.

I called my doctors office and asked about the booster and was told by his nurse they don't recommend covid shots or a booster. Told her that I already had my two shots and wanted a booster. She basically mumbled something back and then hung up ???? So much for my doctors advice! No names so don't ask ;)

Heard a reputable doctor say there is no spacing for booster and flu shot. You can get at same time.

And where did you find this reputable doctor? I thought all doctors were reputable.

I’m asking. What boneheaded doctor are you referring to? Please do us a favor and let us all know who we should NOT seek advice or medical care from. Thanks. This should be considered a public service.

I did some preliminary checking and both medical organizations that were giving Moderna said "...at this point in time you cannot get a booster until 8 weeks after your second shot..."

Which is currently being reviewed by CDC and may go to 6 months

Yet I see on this thread some have already gotten theirs. Also heard (third hand) of others getting it already.

Either they are all at 8 weeks or there is an acceptable variance?!?!?

Suspect you meant months?

A third injection is approved now for those with certain conditions that may have inhibited their immune response.

First vaccinations were in January so September will be 8 months.

Someone with time could probably find the clinical trial protocols on the FDA Web site.

The form I filled out pre booster asked if I was more than TWO WEEKS post second Moderna shot. Don't know where your numbers are coming from.
I got it at Publix. Self certified that I am immune compromised.
Got my flu shot at the same time.
10 days ago, no waiting.

Do you mean 8 MONTHS after the second shot of Moderna?

Walensky, “Reports from our international colleagues, including Israel, suggest increased risk of SEVERE disease amongst those VACCINATED EARLY.”
She is telling those that received their vaccination early to get their booster shot.

MDLNB, by "early," do you mean those that received their initial dose as soon as it was available?

The Israeli Phizer study showed that the effectivenes declines by about 1 to 1.5% for each of the 6 months that was studied. Slope of the curve after that is unknown, since the vaccine has not been around longer. So if the initial effectiveness is 95% (regardless of when you got jabbed), the effectiveness after 6 months may have declined to 87%. Speculation is that the Moderna vaccine will follow a similar effectiveness decay curve, since it's also based on mRNA technology.

Is that your reference?

PS Israel is way ahead of us in vax rates. For abuot a month now, they have been recommending booster shots for ALL those over 55 who have had their first series more than 6 months ago.

Oh, are school children sitting next to each other in pews and singing hymns throughout the day? Also, are all children now having a severe or fatal outcome from Covid 19 now? I dearly love children but let’s use our heads here and temper our thoughts with factual medical information and decisions. I’m sure vaccinating children will be approved shortly and I’m not sure that’s a good thing but we will see.

Sorry, I was not in the audience when it was recorded so I did not have a chance to ask that question. I'll let you know if she ever contacts me and I am able to ask..:ho:

Is the CDC still stating the 8 month mark for the boosters?

See my porior post.

The Latest: Israel expands booster shots to 12 and older

"The decision, approved Sunday, is the latest phase of a booster program that began last month with Israelis over 60. It was expanded in phases over several weeks to people in their 50s, 40s and 30s. Some 2 million people — more than 20% of the country’s roughly 9 million people — have received a third dose."

To be honest, I don't know. I'm not up on it. I have heard that the J&J second dose is supposed to be superior.

Third COVID shot

Immunocompromised that got third COVID shot told it is not a booster. So does that mean that after 8 months from the third shot they should receive a booster? I’m confused and MD and pharmacist didn’t know the answer.
