Smile Found Golf Ball!

After 3 months, I have found the first golf ball in my yard. The is somewhat amazing considering according to my range finder, the house is 100 yards to the left of the green and the second house in across a street! The hole is a 130 yard par 3. I am guessing one heck of a hook and a big bounce off the street.

Something like 85% of all amateur golfers miss to the right. Even for golfers that hook the ball, it would take some effort to hit it 100 to the left on a 130 yard shot. Not only would the golfer have to miss but 100 yards, they would also have to over club by a huge amount.

Doing the math very quickly, if you're house is indeed 100 yards from the green and is a right angle to the line from the tee to the green, your house sits approximately 165 yards from the tee.

If they would normally hit a nine iron to cover the 130 yards, they would need a five or six iron to reach your house. The fact that you found a ball in your yard means that someone's calculations were way off. Unless, of course, they perhaps skulled their second shot from the side of the green opposite your house or, like you say, it hit the street and took quite a bounce.

Yes, it is very unusual for you to find a golf ball in your yard.

Someone gave me a dozen balls with my name on them. After thinking about it, that is probably not a very good idea unless you are a good golfer and seldom lose the ball. So I sent my brother some for Christmas. He didn't see the humor in my gift.

Next time............purchase golf balls with your brother's name on them and you play with them.

Then send him a Christmas card explaining what you did.

I like it! No over-thinking it in this post and exactly what I was thinking.

Let me tell you a funny story, I live next to a sidewalk and I have a big dog, I leave a couple of golf balls out in the yard, so when they go I kick a ball to were they just peed, so I know where they just went. I then water the spot with the hose to save the grass. You can't imagine how many people come into my yard and take the golf balls. I just hope they don't put their hands in their mouth

You know that one neighbor that always is a pain in the ___, put his name on the ball.
