I don't know where you get your air, but at Walmart it is $1.00. $.75 at Marathon on 44.

joseppe 08-22-2021 08:05 AM

Buy a new set of tires that don't leak and they'll throw in free air!

jaccac 08-22-2021 08:27 AM

Any WAWA

aldeana 08-22-2021 08:52 AM

All the WAWA stations offer free air, and have a built in pressure indicator that works. you can pre-set just how much pressure you want and it stops when it reaches that setting.

I’m a bit surprise by some people responses that they think every gas station has FREE air for tires. I’m like you I’m waiting to hear where they know where any air pumps in gas stations that have FREE air for tires. Unless they think you mean the air you breath. Some gas stations do have FREE air pumps. I can kinda see why most gas stations make you pay for air, some people get air & then just drop air hose right where they are instead of hanging it back up. But seriously if you need air in a tire, you might have to pay $.50, $1.00 or I’ve seen some places you have to use your credit card!

rockyhyder 08-22-2021 08:59 AM

Some don't seem to realize. You can top off your car tires, golf cart tires etc with a bicycle pump.

Well, depends on hose end to hook ups at valve stem. On my car the stems are short and the hand pump locking handle can’t lock off cause of the hub caps are in road. Now you say just take hubs caps off? On my model that requires 5 lug nuts removal. Yep I know stoopid design.

IMO any vehicle owner should have way of topping off tires. If they don’t that tells me they don’t check tire pressure like they are supposed to.

Mewatt2@gmail.com 08-22-2021 10:44 AM

I paid $2.00 to $2.50. Make sure you carry a tire gauge. I figure it as a maintenance fund for my tires and their equipment. The free gauges I tried had issues.

Aqtlow 08-22-2021 11:44 AM

Free air

I’m pretty sure Wildwood Tire would ck and add air if needed, they have always been very helpful . One would think that if we now pump our own gas , we can add our own air if needed, with electronics they can control the compressor to shut off when the station is closed. Just a mater of customer service, not sure they teach that in school anymore.

I have a small rechargeable air pump (not as big as a D cell flashlight) that recharges via USB and is good for cars and golf carts. Got on amazon for about $30. You can set the PSI (up to 50) and it will shut off when that pressure is reached. I find this much easier than worrying about finding a gas station with an air pump - free or not.

I also carry an air pump in the car that plugs into a power outlet That way I always have air available. I've used this one when I've had a flat tire (with not too bat a leak) and would top it off, drive a ways, top it off, drive a ways, etc. until I could get to a good location to change the tire or get it repaired.

That has come up before. Easy solution, buy a valve stem extender. A set of four are like $4.00. I would not leave them on. I expect on a car it would effect the tire balance.
Perhaps not the reason for it but my bicycle pump has a hole up near the handle, perhaps for a ball needle into which I store my valve extender.

Who said the good old days was good?

All memory is selective and changed by time. First time i heard an adult swear was my best friends father they had a 1955 Chevy. The issue was it took high test gas and it had gone up to twenty eight cents a gallon. Selected reality, in 1955 I was five years old.
My dad a WWII injured combat vet was supporting a family of four WORKING for $100 a week. We did not have a TV till about 1955. First car was well used a 1950 Olds it was like 1960 when we got it. The good old days. Truth I had a great childhood. Oh and I remember a slice of pizza and a small coke was .25. Fifteen cents for the pizza and a dime for the coke.
