Default Frequent Golf rounds in a week.

I have been reading about the "point system" in regards to playing Golf and must admit I don't understand it. My question is can a person play an executive course 4 or 5 time a week irreguardless of the tee off time, or will he be turned away.

Thanks.

Default golf

I have two neighbors that play at least 4 times a week. I used to play 2 days a week. There are alot of tee times available. It is best to subscribe to the Villages .net and then you can see all of the tee times that are available and you can make tee times 3 days ahead.

I play 3-4 times a week on the executive courses. Since I am a single golfer I just use the open tee times and have not had a problem so far. You might like to check out the Good Golf School as they explain the point system very well. I might add that I see many openings on the Championship courses also for 1=2 golfers.

My comment is that I too subscribe to THE VILLAGES.NET TEE TIME SERVICE and two days a week I play with pals and two days I go and find open tees times somewhere and play with other folks , which normally makes four , however , if my wife catches me then I play five...........Once you learn how it works , its easy and lots of fun and a terrific way to meet new people and make friends .........
This is almost a necessity with me as my friend turnover is quite rapid...

Good Luck, You'll love it....fumar

Please note - now it is relatively easy to find tee times. During the high season it gets worse - particularly in March. If you don't have a reservation, there are some available, but they will usually be either really early in the morning or very late in the day.

We are visiting TV for the first time, only here about 10 days. We've played 4 executive courses already and are scheduled to play another on Thursday. Be flexible.

CTGolfer,

From where in CT do you come? We have been in TV for a year and a half from East Hartford.

Not to hijack this thread but since the executive courses are nine hole courses (or so I've been told), how does one go about playing 18 holes on the executive courses? Do you just have to make 2 tee times properly spaced apart? Nine holes isn't enough for me. I will be in TV the month of March for my first visit.

Also I won't have computer access from the house I'm renting (although I guess I would have access from the public computers). I likely won't have access to the tee time system either. Will I be able to play? Is it feasible for a single to just go to a course and wait for an opening?

Getting concerned if I will be able to play.

Any suggestions from the regulars?...Wilt

Default Consective Nines on Executive Courses

Waiting for an open tee time in March -even for a single golfer - is like waiting for the snow to fall - it could be a very long wait.
Without an account and a computer, it will be very frustrating to play golf. I try to play 9 holes almost every day - instead of playing 18 holes on the championship courses 3 times a week. It's especially good to play 9 holes if, like me, you want to do other things during the remainder of the day.

To answer your question about consecutive nines, it's really not too easy to do, since the courses are so busy. I would eliminate that thought from your head right away.

You can access the tee time system by phone. I've never done it, but its supposed to be relatively painless. You can also call up courses the day you want to play and see if they have openings. March is difficult if you don't reserve in advance, but being a single, will make it somewhat easier for you. I don't know if there is a way to do 18 holes on the exec course that time of year. I think in slower times of the year they have a way you can reserve for 18 holes on the execs. Let's face it - you get what you pay for. In general, executive golf courses are aimed at people who want to only play 9 holes, or are beginner type golfers, although in The Villages there are exec courses that are much more difficult and challenging. If you prefer 18 holes, you will find it easier to sign up on the Championship courses. There always seem to be openings for a single golfer. I know some people, to save money, will play the Championship courses a couple times a week, then alternate on the off days with 9 holes of the exec courses, with a few trips to the driving range.

We've been in TV for the month of March for the past 2 years, so not a lot of experience but some. Both years we played golf every day, missing only a day here or there. Generally we played the execs with the longer courses thrown in 2-3 times a week. I use the villages.net system and look for unused slots for 2 to 4 and have never had any trouble getting times. I understand that using the phone system doesn't let you look for unused times though.

Last year one of the starters told me they were going to start a system that would let you sign up for 18 holes on the execs. Not sure what happened to that.

In the summer I would put a request in for a 9 hole exec course t time. Then, 3 days before (when it converts from a "request" to an actual reservation) I would schedule a reservation about 2 hrs later at the closest exec course to the one I had the first reservation. I do not think you cn make 2 "requests" for execs on the same day. I don't think this can be done this time of the year. I can't imagine trying to do it without a computer.
