Question Front yard light

I'm planning to install new lights on the front of our home and would replace the light post with a cast post that matches the lamp. I see a few different light posts but I'm not sure if there are any restrictions against changing the post.

I believe that our rep and many friends who have lived in The Villages for some time, say....YOU MUST GET PERMISSION. WE have the same plans, to ask for permission to replace the pole lamp and lanterns on either side of the garage door with a little...bigger and.....something we would like more, But when I have brought this up, everyone said, DON'T do it, unless you submit your proposed changes to the proper folks. I am not annoyed. I see that there is a lovely atmosphere of beautiful things to look at and it is nice to know that we aren't going to have to look at yucky things that would not be.....as nice....or a little wild, or....You know.

Village 07?. You know about these things. Please tell us again about changes in a home what is allowed and how to go about it. (It also has to do with WHERE you are). I see a couple of houses north of 466 painted........uh..."unusual" colors. We have lived for years with deed restrictions and that doesn't bother us at all. I don't miss the boats parked or the lawn ornaments of cannons etc.

For architectural changs after closing. You need to fill out an application. Form is online at www.districtgov.com or pick up at District office at 1894 Laurel Manor Drive or page 5 of TV phone book.
Not sure if a form is required for changing light pole.....maybe a call to the District office could clarify.
For those who have not looked at TV phone book, there is a lot of useful information.

dwebb,

Your best avenue is a quick call to the community standards office. I have spoken with them before on a theoretical question and they were very helpful. Phone number is (751-6719).

Prior link should be www.districtgov.org not .com

My guess would be you don't have to get permission to change light fixtures. There is a requirement that you have a working light pole.

Also, Gracie, covenants north of 466 are different than south of 466. They can have lawn ornaments in the front and 'for sale' signs out front; not sure about house colors.

This is not true for the later areas north of 466. We built in 2001 and we are not allowed to have lawn ornaments. I think the no yard ornaments started with the Marion county area.

Default Never could figure thie one out.

I guess what's good for the goose is not good for the gander according to where the gander lives. One area can have "do-dads' coming up everywhere, another place has to go through "big brother" to hang an ornament.
Go figure.
Often though about an uprising. An entire village where "oh no, that isn't allowed", did just that. Statues, ornaments, do-dads, fake rocks, elves, et al. I could see big brother, out there with 100 moving vans, running up and down the street with that pile of fish-wrap clutched in their pathetic hands, just freaking out. Meanwhile, all the home owners are standing around singing "This Land is My Land"! What a sight to behold.

Neat bumper sticker. Went like this: "It's God's job to judge terrorists. Our job is to arrange the meeting!"

Be a gentleman, remove your hat/cap when entering a building and dining out!
