Default Fulltimers? - Snowbirds?

If I bought a home in TV I'd be a fulltimer but..... what if all my neighbors are snowbirds? I'd feel awfully lonesome all around me ! Just thinking outloud and looking for feedback :

Most neighborhoods have a mixture of both frogs and snowbirds, so not to worry and theres always the clubs, squares, rec centers, KB's, pools, polo grounds, need I go on?? No such thing as lonely in TV ;D

Agreed. Too much to do. And easy to meet others. On our block we have about an 80/20 mix of full timers to snowbirds.

Coney Island, I moved here in Nov and yes I did feel lonely for the first month. I missed our friends and old familiar places. But now in four months, I feel like I've been here forever. Yes, I made some wonderful and I believe lifelong friends that are snowbirds and soon they will fly away and I will be sad until they return. But, I've also made some wonderful friends that are neighbors and are here all year long. Once I started getting out there and joining clubs and activities, everything fell into place. Have no fear, you won't be lonely in TV. ;D

I agree that when you first arrive, you're lonely. However, that does change as you find what you want to do and others who will happily do them with you.

I love games -- card games, board games, even mind games. I love to dance. Those are the two things I truly love to do more than anything else. Well, I've found Chels's hubby to be my bridge partner, which, in turn, has gotten me a couple of other people who want to play with me. I've joined a group of single ladies who aren't out looking for men but rather for companionship. We officially get together on Saturday nights, go out to dinner and then back to one house or the other for games. There are also unofficial game nights on other evenings we can choose to go to or not. For dancing, there's the Squares and KB's. I will frequently go by myself to this just because I love people watching and meeting and like the idea I can wander as I choose. KB's is also available.

So, you're as lonely as you make yourself be. If you want to stay home and do nothing, that option is there. If you want to meet people, it may take a little time, but you will. And there's always TOTVers to get you started. We're also a great group and many of us have become friends.

Neighbors--and neighborhoods--are important, but there is sooooo much more to life in TV! We are snowbirds who have been here (other than two weeks around Christmas/New Year's) since mid-February and leaving to go back north in mid-April, but through TOTV, clubs, and so forth we have connected up with many people. Yes, a major move like this takes time to adjust to, but don't let the snowbird issue get in your way!

Hey! Hey! We are not snowbirds they're the renters. We are seasonal residents.

Please don't confuse us with them. I for one visit several times during the year not just
during the winter.

So to all my seasonal friends out in TV see you all next winter.

wav wav wav crap

Then you qualify to be not a snowbird, but a snowflake, that is one who drops in occasionally.

Seriously, anyone who's been here a while has no or should have no animosity toward seasonal residents, snowflakes, or snowbirds. In my three year old neighborhood, the number of seasonals and rentals decreases every year. Now my block has one house that's a standard seasonal, one that is kinda flakey, they drop in sometimes but generally rent it out, and one that's strictly rental. One that had been a rental was sold to folks who will soon be frogs. We all love the seasonal couple and really miss them in the summer. Some of the renters have been great and fit in well, some were so-so. No big deal. We'd love for all our neighbors to be frogs but that's life.

Also, the summer when seasonals, flakes, and birds are most scarce is also the time when many of the frogs take vacations of varied lengths.

THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN ! If I'm a fulltime frog, I'd be a little lonely tadpole with all the flakes & birds gone up yonder. Who am I gonna play with ??????????

CIB...the other side of the coin. I've gone to clubs and regularly to the squares...

I'm a snowflake and I feel lonely when in TV...

I'm looking forward to the day when I'm a permanent resident, can put down roots, and establish myself...

I find it hard to make lasting friends when I'm not there year round...

and...it seems everyone already has their group of friends...

OK... lemmee get this straight ..... the fulltime owners are FROGS, those frogs who come to TV back & forth are SEASONAL RESIDENTS, the renters are SNOWBIRDS, and the SNOWFLAKES drop in occasionally : : :

Now I see; thanks muncle ;D

CIB you almost got it right - many owners are snowbirds too, not just renters.

I'm a frog - here til I croak! LOL.

Brightspot, please send me a pm next time you are here, & snowflake or not, I'll meet you on the square or someplace. We friendly Village people don't want anyone to feel lonely! I live alone, and sometimes feel a little like that and have to make myself go, and I'm always glad I went.

Mcelheny...the more the merrier

I'll pm both you and pj when I get to town, ok?

We can plan an impromptu get together...lunch, dinner, my house, your house(s), KB's, the square? I'm open to any suggestions.
