Thanks for all your help! It was more toxic than the natural bad smells you're suggesting. We were there at the end of June-beginning of July, if that helps at all. Just wondering how "healthy" it could be breathing in that smell.

Well after 5 pages of comments not one of you understand why the smells linger all around The Villages. Well thr answer to the puzzle is that

I have not seen any mention of the chemical smell that was around about a year ago when they were recoating the roads. They sprayed something onto a lot of roads mostly north of 466. This went on for weeks and when they did this the smell was everywhere . Almost like a paint solvent.
