Check the little white wires that go to your 2 garage door sensors. After 5 or 6 years, they have a tendency to rust off, causing bad connections. This has happened to me in both of the homes I have had in The Villages. They are pretty easy to reconnect.

Change the batteries

Has anyone ever experienced this and knows an easy fix so that I don't have to call Romac?

I came home lest night and the opener that I keep in the golf cart didn't work. It worked fine this morning however. Later on, I took the car out and the door would close using the HomeLink in the car.

Later when I took the cart out again it worked but the last time I took it out it didn't. I check out the opener in the wife's car and that one didn't work either.

So not, none of the three work. The door still function with the wall control.

Because all three remotes are not working I have to assume that it's something in the receiver.

Any suggestions before I spend money on a house call?

Happened to me once. Discovered after exhausting all other possibilities that the wiring at the electric eye on the garage door had finally corroded so my it just stopped working. The original house installers did a bad job but at least it lasted a 18 months so it was beyond year warranty. As a handy guy I just cut back the bad corroded wire reconnected and sealed it better. Has worked fine for the last 4 years.

Most likely it's that. What opener do you have. I am a garage tech.

The safety beams only affect it closing never opening. Also if it works normally from wall it's not sensors.

Receiver may have gone bad. What brand is the unit?

I don’t think it is the batteries because of all three not working. It is probably the alignment of the sensors that won’t allow the door to close or open if something is in the way. I have sometimes, maybe three in nine years, had to make sure the sending unit for the opener, it is on the floor at each end of the door, points at the receiving unit. Just bend it a little until it works. It is not hard to do and you don’t need to pay anyone.

It will never affect opening only closing

Problem fixed and I have some information to pass on. I called Romac and made an appointment. I then asked to refresh my memory on how to reprogram the remotes. When I hung up I went out and gave it try and both remotes worked.

This surprised me as all three remotes were not working I assumed that it had to have something to do with the opener itself. I drove my car out to rest the Home Link and to my bewilderment, it was working without being re programmed.

So I called Romac back to cancel the appointment and relayed that I though that the whole thing was very strange. The woman on the phone asked me if I had had a power outage recently. I recalled that a few days ago, our power went out for about three seconds and came back on. Evidently, when this happens, the computer loses the connection to the remotes. I asked why the Home Link suddenly worked and she said that often when the remote that was originally used to program Home Link is reset, the Home Link will work as well.

So if you have a problem and you have lost power no matter how briefly, that could be your answer.

Not true but glad it's working now. Some things have no explanation. Get a liftmaster. MVP is the least secure openers out there. They are not rolling code which is way more secure.

Only if held down to override. If touched and released it will open but not close.
