Years ago my friend and I were playing ping pong in my basement, when I heard a loud bang. I looked to my right and the spring was hanging inches from my head. After that I always made sure that there was a safety wire though the spring.

Like anything else, if you do routine maintenance it extends the life of the springs and other areas of your garage door.

Garage door springs typically break right around at the 10 year mark for most folks. Always replace in pairs. Ryan O'Cull is one of the very best. Always recommend him. Frank D.

My previous house had extra wide, extra heavy two car garage door with 4 springs. No way I was gong to replace 4 at time.

The Torsion Spring is the one along the top of the Garage Door. I wouldn't think of trying that myself. Very dangerous for a rookie. The set of Extension Springs that

Glad things worked out for you.

Nucky you're right about Torsion Springs, but winding them can be dangerous. I tried to do my own, didn't have any problems except when I wound it, the door still wouldn't go up. You have to know how to match it with the other side. So yes, have someone do it! The ones on the sides are simple I always did my own & it only took me about 45 mins. to an hr. to do. But I think those are outdated now & they only put the Torsion Springs in now. You gave them good advice about having someone else do it, it's not cheap to have someone do it because no more time than they put into it fixing it, it's not cheap.

Ryan doesn’t service The Villages south of Hwy 44. I called today to have him come over and he informed me that for South of 44 we should call Romac.

Maybe S of 44 the doors are under some kind of warranty.

If only all service people were like Ryan. Called this morning with an issue, he returned my call within a half hour. Said we would stop by around 4PM, arrived and fixed the problem.
Was very fair with his charge.
Highly recommend him.....you will not be disappointed.

We have had excellent and timely service from Ryan.

Here's another thumbs up for Ryan! We had a sudden garage door issue so I jumped on TOV for a referral. All the glowing reviews made calling Ryan the obvious next step. Just like others have stated, his service was incredibly quick and reasonably priced. Overall a great experience. A big "thank you" to both Ryan O'Cull and to everyone on this site who recommended him.

If you are south of 44, isn't this a warranty issue?

Last time Ryan was here to service our system, he suggested spraying the springs with PAM cooking oil to lubricate them.
