I think it looks good. They did a good job with design. That's probably why it got approved. It' too bad he has to now live there with upset neighbors, who wants that?

After hearing about what a monstrosity it is, I think it looks really good. The architect and contractor really did a good job in marrying the two sections. Since the homeowner has a larger lot, I see no issues with this at all. And no, I wouldn't mind living across the street from this home and seeing it every day. Excellent work all around!!

A lot of the neighborhood whiners, are probably afflicted with SGE (small garage envy).
He's obviously living, rent free...in their heads. |

He must not be happy where he stores his motor home. This looks like a garage built to store a motor home.

I miss the extra space
Kudos to that homeowner. It was done tastefully and in keeping with the style and architecture of the rest of the house and neighborhood. Coming from the north, where finished or unfinished basements are the norm, I really miss the extra storage and craft or workshop or gathering space. I, frankly, do speak from jealousy. If the property size allows it, and it fits the style, more power to him/her. I dont doubt that that will be a hot property when it goes up for sale at some future date. Incidentally, precedent may have already been set with the 7 homes with outsized Recreational Vehicle garages added on.

Simple Question
What is the usage for such a large garage. If for parking your cars or golf carts who cares. If it is for an active business then it is in violation of the rules and neighbor's have every right to be upset. What was used for Architecture Board review and approval??

From the picture posted, it doesn’t look anywhere nearly as bad as I thought it would.

I think it's great that someone with the need went through the right channels to expand their garage. If it bothers you don't drive by it. Not everyone plays golf.

What?
I've seen this house and can not understand how it was approved by ARC and the house with a widened driveway is in violation. I don't consider this about envy but "protecting" all of our property was what I thought was the purpose the ARC was for? Does the developer have no control over all the CDD ARCs regarding purpose and uniformity or was this just an oversight?

I agree. I don’t mind the extra width but the height competes with this residential community. It should never have been allowed in this neighborhood.

The garage was approved and doesn't infringe on anyone else's property. Many of us wish our garages were bigger.
