Asianthree, I remember that story very well. LOL. You beat me to it. When I first read that old post I could'nt believe it.

When I have something I don't want that is usable and in good condition, I put it out early in the day on trash day so that perhaps someone who needs it will come and recycle it for their use. I am sure the person who took it had no idea you expected it to be there after the trash guys came. Sorry.

I researched trash picking in Florida and can't find any references or law making legal/illegal distinctions between curb picking and driveway picking. If you can, I'd appreciate the link.

Trash picking is very common and there are cases where trash left next to the garage is even legal for "picking". Once trash is put out for collection it's up for grabs and this seems the case for us here in Florida. ..whether on the driveway or the curb.

I don't understand why you are so upset about someone "picking" your garbage that you would call the police and report them stealing. We shred all personal information before trashing it so nothing in our garbage is open to questionable or illegal use by those who might "pick" it. Do you not protect your privacy like we do? If not, I'd suggest you buy a shredder. This will give you peace of mind and let the police focus on more pressing issues.

OP if I had a wheelbarrow I would give it to you but I gave mine away when we moved to Florida. I'm sure that whoever took yours thought you wanted to get rid of it. Lowes, Home Depot or a yard sale???

Pretty sure the wheelbarrow was not on the OP's property if it was on the driveway near the curb, that first 10-15 feet is not "your" property.

I'm just baffled you are baffled that it is gone. Was the trash that was "dumped" in the driveway still in the bags you put the trash in to start with anyway??

The first 10-15 feet is indeed your property. There is a 10 ft. easement along the front which allows for maintenance of utilities but the property is owned by the homeowner. You also have easements along the rear and both sides of the property for the same reasons.

Don't recall if this was written in the Daily Sun or on TOTV a few years ago. Someone was flying out and put their luggage at the edge of their driveway waiting for the shuttle to OAI. Left for a moment to go back into the house and upon returning to the driveway, the luggage was GONE!!!! Never to be recovered as far as I know.:rant-rave::shrug:
