4-5 years is typical. If you notice a slight hesitation when it starts then it is time. A preemptive replacement at 4 years is also not a bad idea.

You can shop around but keep in mind price is not the only thing to check. You want to make sure that you’re replacing apples with apples. Check how many CCA’s (Cold Cranking Amps) the batteries have. Is it a deep cycle or regular and how many month’s warranty are you getting. A $54 battery will most likely be your lowest reserve capacity which may not last as long as a better unit. Your current battery should have all the specs to compare. Batteries are like everything else, you get what you pay for.
