Not to post a bunch of calculations and bore you with numbers but 1 gas cart produces about the same emissions as 6 Ford Taurus'

Go Green College, calculated based on their 100 carts half gas half elec the following;

50 gas carts generates 161,200 pounds of CO2 a year!
50 electric powered carts generates only 41,700 pounds of CO2 a year!

So about 4 times the about.

So here 25,000 gas carts produce 500 times that amount or 80 million pounds of CO2 a year!

80 million lbs

Ah but you conveniently failed to factor in the pollution created by the electric generation plant. Add that then we will see which is more harmful.

jimbo2012 11-27-2013 08:25 AM

That's included in the 41,700

4 times the amount bottom line

Go solar then, I did

I have a straight pipe on my gas cart. The louder, the better!!!!!!

I understand where you are coming from But. Gas Cart Smells/Odors is everywhere regardless simply because the majority of Golf Carts are " GAS ".
That means when you are behind a Gas Cart or Going thru one of the Tunnels you are smelling other Gas Carts.

My gut tells me that 80 million pounds is grossly overstated-

a gas golf cart is nothing more than a riding lawnmower without the blades, If you want that by your self a zero turn toro! We love our electric cart to listen to the music as we drive around the beautiful villages. It will go over 50 miles in a single charge. I cannot Imagine riding that much in a cart in a single day.

If you go to the power plant and stick your head in the chimney, I'm sure it would stink too. If you all think electric is so clean, get real.
I agree electric is quiet but that can be a disadvantage in people won't hear you coming and step out in front of you.
I like gas for the range and convenience.

Well then, guess that's a good thing. More CO2 for the plants = more oxygen for us.
carbon dioxide + water =light energy=> glucose + oxygen

I am sooo confused that I went out and bought one of each!

This debate could go on forever. Gas VS. Electric. You are not going to please everybody. Trying to push your beliefs on everyone is a bunch of BS. If you are not happy, move. I am sure you will find someplace to live, were you will be happy.

I've had gas and electric. My electric cart, with new batteries, was stolen several years ago from the Publix Mulberry parking lot. The one I use now is gas, and I wouldn't have another battery cart. Husband had a battery cart as well, and it quit on him coming home from golfing at Havana or one of those courses quite a way from our home in Springdale. Now he has gas as well. TVs is so large now that I wouldn't feel comfortable setting out for the outer limits with just batteries.
