Default Gas happenings

About noontime today, I drove to the Oxford post office via Hwy 466. The first Shell station had their price posted at $3.63; the second Shell station (about 2 blocks further on the same side of the road) at $3.64; and the Murphy station (close to 301) at $3.57.

The line at the post office took me about 15 minutes. When I drove back, the Murphy station was $3.59 and the two Shell stations were $3.59.

One station goes up by 2 cents and the other two come down by 6 and 7 cents - all ending at the same price.

I just am amazed at that coincidence.

It is a very competitive business especially their food store. I normally get my gas at SAM's Club

I have been saving money on gasoline recently by using the Publix coupons. If you buy $25 worth of groceries, you can (with a coupon) pay $40 for a $50 gasoline gift card. I am buying the groceries anyhow, may as well save $10 on gas.

I used that coupon once before (a couple of weeks ago). Are they putting those coupons out regularly?

A very big thank you! I wasn't aware of this program and, ironically, we just returned from Publix where we spent over $35.

I can't find anything on public.com about this program. Any idea where I can get more information?

The Publix thing....it's a coupon they put in their weekly flier every so often! It's not an every week kind of thing. They ran it about 2 or 3 weeks ago!

Default up north prices

I live in LI NY and the gas is around 3.77 a gal..The news the other day said they expect gas to be pushing upwards of 5.00 a gallon this summer. I hope the are wrong. Oh yeah I am paying 3.89 a gal for oil to heat my home, and I had it locked in this summer for that price. Others who did not lock it in are paying over 4.00 a gal. You use close to 200 hundred gal a month to heat your home around here...I cant wait till I move down there lol.

I'll say there is a gas happening. It happened in Publix a couple days ago. I don't think what they eat smelled that bad going down as it did coming out.

The problem with this program is that you save 1 1/2% on your gasoline purchase while at the same time you are paying approx. 20% more for your groceries at Publix vs. Walmart. Not a profitable trade-off in my opinion.
