My first CYV in Greenbriar had gas... my 2nd CYV, only 1.5 miles away in Phillips Villas, does not have gas. We are as far north and east as you can get in The Villages.

exactly...those are the only choices buy a home with an inground pool and the gas is already there (either from a line, or there's an underground tank in your yard (which will jack up your homeowner's insurance) |
I would much prefer gas but not available in our area. I am sure TV did their study and electric was cheaper to install, it’s always the bottom line

With gas there is a minimum charge each month around 18, so if you go gas and not in your unit ( snow Birds) be aware of the fee. We have gas water heater and furnace, so changing the stove to gas was no big deal, but we pay 5 months of the minimum..

It depends on where you are. We are in Liberty Park and we have gas. Friends live in Hemingway and they can only have electricity. Some areas have the capability of having either. I suggest you call the Utilities and ask them.

There is no gas option available for the most part, in villages below Lake Sumter Landing area. There was a "****ing match" between TV and the gas company. TV lost. So like another poster stated, unless you put in underground tank with propane, there is no gas south at least to 44. Don't know about south of 44.

I have electric. Before i moved to florida i had gas ranges and loved them. I get Nothing but ruined food on my electric range. And i can’t use the wok. It won’t heat up the sides on an electric stove. If i buy another home, I WANT GAS TO COOK, but not propane gas.

Personally, I think that a whole house generator is a waste of money...... and unlike your belief that they are “noisy” , they are actually pretty quiet due to the way they are constructed and insulated.....some of the “portable “ generators are VERY loud.... When we moved here permanently in 2010, I brought our Honda portable generator with us when we moved..... during the past 10 yrs., I have not used it once !!! |

During a hurricane there is a possibility that you could be out for days. Not sure it has happened here. I do know gas is pushed through pipelines where it is flat. In Texas our neighbor had one and it worked 3 days out of 15 we did not have electric because the gas gets blown through lines with electric fans so once gas in the lines was depleted he was in the same boat as us.
