Plus, my cell phone is typically in my pocket, so I'd have to dig it out to flash the gate... |

So, $20 is too steep to invest in the gate pass that installs inside the mirror?
I tried the idea of laying the gate card against the window and it never worked. Maybe I was doing it wrong. Who knows. Now, I no longer need to open my window when going through a gate. It's inside the mirror and I drive slowly up to the sensor and it opens faster than when I have to stop, open the window and reach for the gate card. AND it saves on wear and tear on the window that no longer needs to be opened and closed. Nice that you do not need to get wet when it is raining, too. I know one person that was laying his card against the window and it fell, sliding down INSIDE his door panel. It's still there. The chip that mounts inside the mirror is a nice convenience. If you are trying to save a few bucks by trying a bunch of alternatives, they you probably can't afford to live in the Villages anyway. Just saying. The OP was asking for a phone number, not advice on how to save money on gate passes. |
you really don't need the chip. It works fine right through the window, as long as you are lined up with the beam

The RFID chip in my gate card doesn't work in a silicone sleeve stuck on the back of my cell phone. I have to pry it out and wave it but it is a handy place to store the card. The gates are a joke. I much preferred sailing through when the gate(s) were ripped down every 2 days.
