Now I know we can all exaggerate...however when I told a few friends what I heard....one of them (happens to be an ambassador) told me that they had heard the same thing from some of the Havana ambassadors....

There is also a story floating around today....the babies over at Palmer were dining on a duck!! The humans saw the legs bobbing up and down and then suddenly it was flipped over....and the head was gone. Poor little duck! They saw several pairs of gator mouths chomping at it!!




Fumar....some of this stuff is just WAY to good to have been made up...well at least by me!

I just stopped the Community Watch man and asked him about the big gator in the road by 466a / Havana area he said. . . no. . . nope no calls no gators in the area and no one leg ducks :faint:

Saw two just yesterday. A bigger one in the pond by Holiday Inn Express (5 feet?) and one in the pond near Panera (2 feet?). Big surprise to see them around there.

If there's water, you assume there's gators. In the last 3 yrs, I've seen them on dry ground sunning at Palmer, Turtle Mound (twice), Sand Hill, Heron. and FDR. I've seen them in the water at Turtle Mound, Bacall, and Heron, as well as in Lake Sumter right next to RJ Gators and the retention pond at Bailey Trail & Buena Vista. And I spotted one just ambling thru the grass across BV from the Bridgeport at Lake Sumter gate. There out there and they come in all sizes. Too bad Samhass doesn't post much. She's got some stories about a giant that routinely sunned in her backyard.

Okay, all of you environmentalists who say the alligators were here first and we are invading their land. Well, yeah, we are. I guess the same could be said for fire ants and palmettos. The buffalo were cool and they were controlled behind fences until some idiots decided to climb those fences. Alligators are cool in a zoo where they can't hurt you. I personally don't like the idea of coming across one when I am taking a walk in the evening or looking for a lost golf ball or showing a grandchild the beautiful areas around TV. We all built houses here and we should be free of the fear that there are dangerous creatures out there that could harm us. I realize that I am being a wimp, but I think all of the gators should be rounded up and taken to an environment away from humans. :22yikes:

And if bitten, I am just as sure these are the same folks who would be first in line to bring suit aginst the developer for allowing the gators to remain.

Gators are only a problem when people try to feed them or get too close like taking a stupid picture.

I wonder if one of the ladies had puncture wounds on the thigh, might be the same one that climb the fence to get the photo opp with the polar bear. Her leg might of had enought after that one though!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then other lady might be the one that jumped into the polar bear swimming pond. maybe she wanted to mate with one. ?????????????????????????????????? Oh Boy

There was a story in a south Florida newspaper a few years ago, which did make me laugh. A young lady called the police to report a rather large 'gator in the pool in her back yard. The police officers reply, was no ma'am the gator has you in HER front yard! :icon_wink::icon_wink:

Really? I personally have much less fear of the gators than of the 2-legged predators running rampant through the world. Let's put all the criminals in a zoo too. IMHO, your thought here, while wonderful, is hopelessly optimistic and naive. I think we need to prepare ourselves to deal with what's out there rather than assume we have the ability to change it.

No matter where you live, there will always be "dangerous critters". Around here we're seeing more coyotes as their natural environment is being developed. It's not unusual for small dogs and cats to go missing. Also have racoons and other wild animals that can get mean if threatened. Heck, even big dogs can be a threat. Just need to avoid them if possible and live with them.

Since living here I have worried if the alligators get too much attention (like the ladies going over the fence to take pictures) all the gators will be removed. Granted, once they reach a certain size and pose a danger I imagine it is best to relocate them. However I hope the smaller gators are left alone. Heaven knows I would not want to see a duck being attacked, but that is nature. I can take this more than animal cruelty by humans.
