Don't forget General Perna
Here's the guy in charge:
GUS PERNA, the general running logistics for Operation Warp Speed, states report they’re getting less than they were promised. “It was my fault,” Perna says. “It was a planning error, and I am responsible.” |

WOW, you must have searched for that first comment. That was a while ago before I realized how difficult this vaccine roll out was going to be. I guess I was very naive.
You're welcome. I realize now that the roll out will take a lot of time and there will be millions of people who are clamoring for the vaccine but just can not get it. I still stand with my view point that I WILL NOT protect anti-vaxxers when when we no longer have anyone wishing to get the vaccine. When the vaccine is plentiful to all those who want it, that is when my mask comes off. That may not be for a very long while, but I will wait it out and for now continue to protect those around me.

NO! Don't listen to this "opinion"! You are still on the list and will be contacted when vaccine is available.

Since you are vaccinated you just lost the ability to say I WILL NOT protect. But I bet that 31 week pregnant lady that will not get the vaccine must be in your anti-vaccine group, as well as the healthcare workers who are choosing to pass. Then there are those who are in Chemo, who’s physicians are holding them from the vaccine, or those who are anaphylactic and their physicians are choosing to withhold the vaccine until further studies. So which of these anti vaccine people do you feel are not worth it?

I've been told that the 2nd shot is a booster....the same shot as the 1st one. It seems that there is a bit of flexibility in when then 2nd is administered....just has to be at least 28 days (for Maderna). I haven't found out/heard of how much time after 28th day, but I would think at least a month. I get that it's the same 'shot', just can't understand why they would not 'pull' and reserve, the 2nd shots, before administering 1st shots to new people (and, YES, I am one of the 7500 waiting for the 1st shot. the issue of availability of the 2nd shot concerns me. Hopefully this will get resolved in the next few days.

Get used to disappoint! The explanation would have been censored so why bother!

You do not have to start over. The person that said that is not only clueless but has a limited thought process. It is true there is 80% coverage for Moderna at the end of 28 days but what is unknown is how long that will last without the booster. In Moderna's trials efficacy 1 week after 2nd shot is 94.5% but in over 65 drops to 86%. They did a subset of over 65 and that was the result. No big deal tho. This is fact - look up clinical trials and these facts are there.

How effective is a single vaccine dose against Covid-19? - BBC Future Thought this point of view interesting where an alternate Pfizer estimate is based on when the initial injection likely becomes effective. "But there is also another figure that has been circulating on the internet, and anecdotally, being fed to patients by certain doctors – the suggestion that the first dose is around 90% effective. And this is where it gets a little more complicated. The second estimate comes from the UK's Vaccine Committee, the JCVI, who decided to calculate the efficacy of the vaccine differently. Instead of using all the data on the number of infections, including from days when the first dose hadn't yet started to work, they only looked at days 15-21. Using this method, the efficacy of the vaccine jumps up to 89%, because it's not being diluted by the relatively high number of infections before the vaccine begins to have an effect. Taking things even further and only looking at the first seven days after the second dose (days 21-28) – because the second dose might not have kicked in yet by then – it's 92%. However, these calculations are controversial." |
