I first heard about "God's Waiting Room" on a golf board I subscribe to when another poster on the board mentioned TV as a potential retirement spot. Someone responded that there was no way he could be happy living amongst a bunch of "blue hairs" shuffling about in God's Waiting Room. I had to laugh because I have seen more people jogging, walking, running, golfing, and otherwise being very active here than I saw in 30 years in SoCal. I posted back that I was glad he wasn't coming since we had no time here to re-educate him on what we do and how we live. We are too busy.

Tim McGraw says it all

Says it all SkyGuy!

I ain't no Angel

I still got a few more dances with the devil

I'm cleanin up my act, little by little

I'm getting there

I can finally stand the man in the mirror I see

I ain't as good as I'm gonna get

But I'm better than I used to be

The Vehicle I am show in is a California built Toyota protype Plug in Prius.

They delivered 6 of these to SU's Center of Excellence in Syracuse. On their back bumpers was a HUGE ORANGE SU LOGO

Worked great in Fog!

GO SU!

I lived in St. Petersburg from 1959 to 1977, so I grew up in this atmosphere. I remember once during Johnny Carson's monologue he had made a trip to St. Pete and called it "the town of the walking dead'. It was in the St. Pete Times the next morning, I thought it was funny and I was probably in my 20's then. It is what it is.

Hey

Just ignore these fools! Thank goodness you have choices and you have chosen a grand play yard. I love being here, I see more active folks than California, with a smile on their faces.

Put your mute button on and your vision on your dream, not their foolish comments.

Rock on dude.

I so relate. A couple of weeks ago there was the joke discussed about a comedian calling us "Death adjacent". I was so hurt and mad.

If we are lucky most of us will grow older, and so will he.

But....if that guy ever visits here, he will soon see how smart we are to live here. Now even forty somethings are trying to move in!

Next week I expect to see a post from someone newly graduating from college who wants to find a job and home here.

Gracie...you are right on target, once again.

Yesterday our carpenter was here to discuss us adding on a 3 season sunroom off our kitchen on the existing deck.....(screened in porch addition). He is 40 years old, our son's age. Well, he was "singing the praises" of THE VILLAGES. His mom retired to Barefoot Bay which is near Sebastian Inlet........but while taking his two teenagers "touring colleges" in Florida........they wound up near Orlando and decided to "take a look at THE VILLAGES" as he kept hearing from people up north here how great it was.

Well, he LOVED IT. And told us so. HE WAS VERY IMPRESSED.
Many young folks DO LOVE IT. I just gave him one of my maps and an extra portfolio with the video and houseplans, etc. The place sells itself.

When people are ready....."they will come".

In the case of 40 year olds, they have to wait the 15 years but they can dream. And.....we had an exceptionally warm winter up here. Yesterday it was over 70 degrees in Vermont........unusual for March, to say the least.
But no leaves on the trees, etc., etc.

In the mean time, I concentrate my energy on enjoying it here.

Excellent post! I'm a whole year older than you, and some people in my family think I'm crazy to be planning for a move that I probably won't be making for a few years yet (unless I win the Lottery)! But if I have moving to TV as my goal, it makes those 50 hour work weeks a little more tolerable.

it seems the opposite to me...

I am up North and I live on a street of many older folks and it seems they are the ones waiting. You see they never go out or do anything...just sitting and waiting but not the folks in the Villages...they don't have anytime for waiting..they are full throttle busy having fun!!!

God's waiting room

As a chaplain at the Villages hospital I not only hear this all the time I see it in action. In my line of work I have occasion to witness many passings and the predominant feeling about that phrase is that at least we have the good fortune of living in paradise while we are working toward getting there.
I don't want to sound callous but no one that I know of has figured a way to avoid life's passages. Death is a fact of life but... we don't have to freeze our tushies off:cold: while we live our life to the fullest. That does it for me.

And then they say!
