Default Golf Cart Etiquette Question

I was coming north on Morse the other day, toward Rio Grande. There was a long line of car traffic that extended way beyond the point where the carts merge with car traffic.
Is it right to get into the lane with the cars at the point of the backed up auto traffic, or to continue up the golf cart lane until the merge, and wait for traffic to move and merge then?
I was a bit confused as I should be in the cart lane since I'm driving a cart, but didn't want to seem too aggressive a driver either.

I've had the same question for the 2 years I've lived here.

I don't know if you'll get a clear answer on what's right.

If the line is really, really long I'll move up to where I feel I can keep up with the cars and get through the light. I don't think that's too agressive and I'm not slowing anybody down.

I know one thing tho' ....... don't pass the line of cars on the right and make the right turn on Rio Grande. I neighbor of mine did that & got a $240 fine.
('course he passed a cop)

Steve, great question. Been in that same predicament, so I just stayed in golf cart lane and turned right onto Rio Grande. Aln, thanks for the heads up on that no no.

Good post. I think many of us have wondered what to do in that situation...

Not to hijack the thread, but ran across what I think was a dumb & dangerous situation today:

Rain squall line came through and most of us battened down the canvas on the carts and headed home. We came to the tunnel at Morse and Odell Circle and lo and behold there were two carts stopped in the middle of the tunnel putting their covers down. They completely closed down one lane in the tunnel, forcing the rest of us to either stop and wait, or dodge on-coming traffic to get through the tunnel. Not a safe thing to do with everyone having restricted visibility, along with the darkness.

In my book this was two cart loads of rude people who put others in jeopardy just so they could stay dry while they leisurely put down the canvas. Stupid is as stupid does..IMHO.

Okay, venting over...have a great evening!
