With the exception of a law suit, when they involve us in a wreck, who is suppose to enforce golf cart laws?

Everyone is in a hurry, why I don’t know, yesterday I was on Morse Blvd waiting to make a left turn into the postal station when 2 cars and a large Groome passed me in the golf cart and bike lane almost took the paint off the side of my automobile, glade there were no carts of bikes in the lane

Does anyone here own an automobile that won't go at least 90 MPH? A stock Corvette ZO6 can go 195 MPH, off the showroom floor.

The highest speed limit in the USA is 85 MPH on a 40-mile stretch of Texas State Highway 130.

Why is it legal to sell automobiles that can travel at more than double the maximum speed limit?

Wake up. I've only been in The Villages for 21 years and have seen countless carts going over thirty mph. How did I know this? They passed me while I was driving my car. Speaking the truth is best gor all.

If not, let them drive their golf cart and you drive yours. No need getting all verklempt over speeding drivers. They will always exist.

^ This. 100%

I’ve passed cars in my 20 mph cart. They were the slugs tooling along at 15, of which I’ve seen “countless” numbers, unlike 35 mph carts, of which I’ve seen none. Interestingly, those slugs generally have no idea how slow they are, they think everyone else is speeding

bowlingal 06-10-2025 05:21 AM

any cart going more than 20 mph is SPEEDING and can get you a very expensive ticket. It can also cause injury and death. If you have questions about operating a golf cart attend the golf cart safety clinic given this month on June 18 at 9AM at the Colony Cottage Rec Center.

I don’t care if they pass me. I’ll drive like I’m supposed to. What scares me is the number of oncoming carts you meet that can’t stay in their own lane. You stay on your side I’ll stay on mine. Curves are the worst. Slow down people.

The more important question here s: why didn’t you pull off the road to let someone pass you? 19mph is not fast, it’s actually pretty slow. Almost every turn on the golf cart paths can be driven faster than 20mph. IMO, it’s the slower golf carts that pose the problem. Why is it safer to travel 200mph on the autobahn than it is to drive 70 mph here in the states? 1 of the main reasons is that slower traffic has to move over to the right lanes or get a ticket or have their license revoked. Same laws should apply here which they are but only on 3 lane hwys like i75 and i95. This should be applied to any 2 lane road here in the villages too.

This is the part that upsets me about people driving without governors, golf carts weren’t built like a Corvette to go 190 miles an hour and stop and turn on a dime, they were built to do 20 or 21. I’m sure many of us have jammed on the brakes to avoid hitting another cart or a car that didn’t see us and had the realization that we were riding in nothing but plastic if we actually collided. So I don’t appreciate the people who think it’s OK to drive faster than The Villages rules which match the equipment and path construction. that can cause harm to others if they have.

A friend of mine had her cart tipped over when a passer cut too close to her rear end and will be in rehab for months how can we say that that’s an OK thing. The driver didn’t even stop when others were rushing to aid.

Our Lifestyle cart had a top speed of 19 mph.

Exactly the same, although mine only goes 20.8 downhill with a tailwind. I have no idea why some people get their undies in a bunch because somebody passes them. Same happens on a highway. My guess is that it is a form of primitive territoriality, but I'm not a psychiatrist. They'll scream all day that they are only interested in safety, or that they are pointing out the law, but in reality, they just don't like getting passed!

I love it when someone goes out of their way to prove my point. Yes, carts going 19.9 are perfectly safe and those going 20.1 are criminally negligent:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Pick up your speed.

If you would go 21 or 22 mph, you would keep up with the flow. Also 35 mph is exaggerated.Quit whining so much.

Heavens to mergatroid, I got passed by someone faster than me in my golf cart!
In my car, I also drive the speed limit in the passing lane on a multi-lane road. Cause no one should go faster than me. All the people understand, behind me. Makes them all happy!

There are not a lot of two-lane golf cart paths, MMPs, or diamond lanes here in the Villages. Or did you mean that there are single-lane sections of the autobahn where cars are required to pull of the shoulder and stop to allow those driving 200mph to pass?

To me, 19mph is not too slow in a cart since the cart is only supposed to be capable of 20mph max. Sure, I would be frustrated that I couldn't just hold my foot to the floor but that's the way it is on a shared path.
