You know, I believed this. My cart was having trouble moving - I'd hit the gas and nothing would happen. This occurred more and more often, til one day it just refused to go at all. While I was in the middle of the road. I had to push it into a parking lot and get it towed home. Called a guy who came and insisted it was a volt regulator, and that my battery was dead. So $200+ later, I had a new volt regulator, the battery was charged, and it seemed to work fine until a week later, when it started doing the same behaviors.

Called him after a couple of months of this delayed acceleration. He came and said this time it was the rear bushings. So he replaced them, for around $150.

Worked more or less fine, but then it started happening again. I got fed up and gave in and went to The Villages Golf Carts. They told me both front AND rear bushings were cracked, they replaced them all. They also tightened something on the throttle that had come loose, which might have been contributing to this problem.

Everything works great now. Yes their prices are nuts. But I'm paying for peace of mind. While they had my golf cart, I had one of theirs. Free loaners to anyone who has to leave their vehicle for the day. And if you bought the cart there, you get priority service and quicker appointments during the busy season.

Great testimonial for The Villages Golf Carts service centers. I have used them also for many years and have found them to be very reasonable with service pricing.
Love the convenience and a free loaner and they are fast.

The issue here is who will service the warranty? The Villages Golf Cars won't... Villages Discount Golf Cars will put you last in line IF they will even look at it.

Golf carts are not like your automobile. When you buy a given brand of auto, any dealer will perform warranty work on it. The manufacturer forces them to do that to become an authorized dealer.

When you buy a cart, the only place that will service your cart is the dealer you bought it from. This is true for Yamaha, Club Car, Star, Evolution, etc. You might find a dealer willing to work on your cart other than the one you bought from, but that is extremely rare.

Also, unlike auto's, golf cart warranties are not transferable. If you buy a cart, and it still has years left for warranty, then sell it to another party, the warranty is gone.

With a GAS golf cart you are always SMELLING and handling gas cans, gas hoses, and waiting in lines at gas stations. And finally, (for those that care) an Electric golf cart is better for the ENVIRONMENT.

Your bullet points are of course yours alone and really not fact. For example, a friend of mine had a Yamaha QuieTech for years. He got the bug to try a new electric cart and tried several and landed on a Star Car with custom seats. He has had it for several months now. I asked him how he likes it, and he said the honeymoon was over and he really misses the Yamaha QuieTech. He cited he felt safer in the Yamaha because it handles more like a car. When you take sharp turns, you do not feel like you're going to fly out of the cart due to the independent suspension as the Yamaha really hugs the road. He said the Yamaha steering was much more precise and car like. Each to his own but that was just one testimonial of a person that has experience both types of carts.

1. The warranty IS a transferable contract. Just go to Yamaha's website and see for yourself that their warranty is transferable.
2. Just call the Villages Golf Cart and say you want to have your cart serviced but you didn't buy from them. They will tell you, OK, we can schedule you 2-3 months out.
3. Why take your cart back to the dealer to perform a service when you can call reputable companies like Todd Casey or Willie's to perform the service right in your driveway at a lower price?
