Default Driver's caution

This morning I had an early app't for labs to be drawn at my clinic, on the way home at the Stillwater/Morse round-about I was making sure of no traffic coming around the circle. It looked to be clear BUT the sun was just coming up over the trees or maybe not quite. There was a glare to be sure (I had my sun-glasses on) when ALL of a sudden I saw a bicyclist coming around the circle. He was dressed appropriately and doing everything (for what I could tell in a short amount of time). ALL that said though, we nearly collided had I not slammed on my brakes. Whew! It would have been on me truth be told, so the caution is slow down when approaching a circle (there is a yield sign for a reason). Today I thought I could continue without doing that and it could have had a very different outcome. Daily I see cars trying to beat the traffic on these circles rather than slowing down.

Back to the thing re: the sun. Certain times of the day walkers, golf carts, bicycles etc. can blend in pretty well with the shadows. Just use common sense (this is a reminder to me as well)!
