I guess I don't understand how this is always an issue in TV. So what, if someone juices up their cart to go more than 19MPH...
Just saying .... |

It does make a difference. I pay for tags and insurance to be able to go that extra 6 mph. Furthermore even if I were allowed to go that speed with the stock wheels (10") I would not because I do not believe they are up to that speed. My GEM car has 14" road rated high speed wheels and tires. These are some of the reasons that hopped up golf cars should be reported and ticketed. As the saying goes you need to pay to play.

No matter the limit, I'm just glad we're able to drive them the way [and where] we do. Peace! |

As a CarGuy, Automotive Technician and Instructor when I ride the trails I see what many only feel. All makes brand new out of the box set up with poor alignment issues. Camber Caster and most important Toe in or Toe out messes up their top speed, how they handle steer and stop. We have all seen those electric/gas modified carts passing us going like scat! The passenger just a hanging on for dear life! The cart has been jacked up. Hopefully the driver isn't! Those cool looking pimp daddie tall profile tires give MPH gains. Combine them with a slow speed Golf designed suspension geometry and we get to see those carts just a bouncing and wallowing around like Shamu the Whale in a Sea World Show. I have not found a cart shop yet that has proper alignment equipment. No a tape measure does not count. That is probably because tire wear is a non issue for the GOLF cart industry. They figure a GOLF cart is suppose to run on grass and it's alignment geometery is set up for quick turns at SLOW speed. Grass and dirt impede the tire wear. Cement and Tar are not as kind. Those with factory designed 25 mph street legals have better handling. The vehicle is DESIGNED for the speed. So I would rather have a 20 mph detuned street legal than a 21+ modified non street legal. Oh wait you could have that it's called a Tomberlin! -:1rotfl::thumbup: |
Slow down

Not a big deal
Some carts are faster than others. Not all drivers go as fast as their carts will go. Some do. If someone wants to pass you, let them. Don't slow down or pull over for them but just let it go. Life is too short to worry about someone who wants to go faster than you do.

We are renting for now, and I am very happy with the speed our electric golf car goes, although it slows down chugging up the "hills" here in TV. But my dear husband wants a gas cart because of their better (?) speed! oh, what a dilemma

A couple of weekends ago, I was going to my car in the parking lot of Barnes & Noble and TGIF. A 60-ish guy with a pronounced MA or RI accent was running around the lot, literally screaming "GD this" and "F'n that" at his wife, REALLY loudly, because he could not find where he had "pahhked the F'n CAHHH". He was spewing all of the venom onto the poor, bedraggled wife diligently looking for the cahh. He was road rage on foot and the woman should have left the b*stard a long time ago. Fortunately I have only seen one person (him) that mad and yelling in TV (pretty good odds, considering it's 85,000-plus people here). |
