She doesn't know her audience--lots of newbies learning the lay of the land, lots of drivers who should have stopped driving years ago, lots of drivers who came from big cities who really have not had to drive till they moved here=so if you want to play in traffic with a golf cart-make sure all your funeral attachments are in place

After owning an electric golf cart for nearly a year, my sister and her husband purchased a street legal electric golf cart for one reason and one reason only. They still wanted an electric cart but they wanted a cart that would go faster than 20 MPH. They wanted the ability to pass a slow moving cart on the MMPs with ease.

My sister never drove their street legal cart in the street. She said she felt very unsafe driving their street legal cart in the traffic circles so she never did go through a traffic circle with that cart.

It was all about the speed and they were happy to get that speed with a street legal cart. My sister and her husband traded in that Par Car street legal cart because it was a maintenance nightmare. They now own a Yamaha gas cart and their gas cart goes as fast as their electric street legal cart did so they are happy.

A few Examples:

You can cross RT44 on the south end.
You can take it to the new Lowes on 466a.
If you live in the historic area you can take it to Sam's Club, Home Depot and many other places in those malls. You can cross Rolling Acres to get to all the stores there (you CAN NOT cross 441). You can take it to our periodontist or other doctors on CR100 behind Walmart on 466.

When one has 1 car it makes getting around more convenient when the one car is in use.


How can you go to the new Lowe’s on 466A? The posted speed limit is 45 mph. A low-speed vehicle may be operated only on streets where the posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour or less.

Edit: Wondering if you can get around that by crossing 466A at the light at Pinellas with the street legal GC? Probably not. I do find it strange that bicycles can do 25 on those roads (466A/466) but Street Legal GC's can't. You can cross RT44 on the south end. At Morse - no you can't because CR468 has a 45 mph speed limit. At Buena Vista - great, you can visit Wildwood Country Resort. At Powell Road - Hey, you can shop at Sparr and the new small strip of retail.

You can take it to the new Lowe's on 466a. No, because CR466A has a 45 mph speed limit. You must use 466A to enter Lowe's.

If want go fast should of got gas cart or altered par car they can go 40 plus when you take the governor out. My gas Yamaha could go 40, but I say within the legal limit 20 MPH?

And I'd say at least 10% of cart drivers in TV rigidly adhere to it! (Roughly the same percentage as never go 72 on the interstate. :) )

The fact that you drive 20 is meaningless. If the cart is CAPABLE of exceeding 20 it is in violation and your insurance will not pay if they find out.
