How do people live there and put up with this noise. Don't even think of putting your house up for sale during polo season. How can the Villages do this to these poor people. Something must be done to stop the noise.

You're kidding, right? Too funny!

Sounds like great fun!

The Polo matches is one thing we did not get around to doing while we were there this year. We will be looking forward to attending when the season starts next Fall. Does anyone have any tips re: when to arrive, parking, where to sit, what to bring, etc.? Sounds like great fun!!!

charlie6543 I read all of the posts that followed yours and IMHO you are correct to expect to play on a course that is positioned so as not to have distracting noises. You may also find comfort in the fact that the posters who negated your complaint are the very residents who continually praise the Developer for creating such a magnificant place. Well apparently from the many complaints viewed on TOTV The Villages has plenty of warts.

Hit them well and long.

Glad you are interested in coming to see the polo matches ! If you arrive about 30-45 minutes before the game, you should get a good seat. They have parking attendants that will direct you where to park. If you are NEW to polo you should definitely sit on the first floor inside the stadium. There are MANY friendly regulars who are more than happy to explain the game. Wear shorts and sunscreen and be prepared to have a great day. They have food for sale and a full bar, too. Leave your good shoes home because you'll want to go out and "stomp the divots" at halftime.

Something REALLY needs to be done about all the dang golf courses at TV.

These playgrounds for an elite few are nothing more than a huge bio-hazard, where exotic soil and grass, chemical fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides and weedicides, as well as machinery spewing their air pollution, are all imported to substitute for natural ecosystems.
These landscaped foreign systems create stress on local water supplies and soil, at the same time being highly vulnerable to disease and pest attacks. The environmental impacts include water depletion and toxic contamination of the soil, underground water, surface water and the air. This in turn leads to health problems for local communities like TV, populations downstream and even golfers, caddies and chemical sprayers in golf courses. The construction of golf courses in scenic natural sites also results in the destruction of biodiversity.

Something definitely needs to be done. Or do you think I'm being a tad unreaasonable perhaps, Charlie?

Thank you for all the good tips cathyw. Maybe we'll see you there :pepper2:

I am really bothered by some of the replies to Charlie's first post. Shame on many of you for reacting with rudeness and negativity. Yes, he was negative but all he did was state his feelings/opinion. Why do you find it necessary to jump all over people when they post an opinion?

OK...I'm ready for the mud slings...and NO...I don't know Charlie! So, sling away and start a war on me for stating MY opinion.

Why couldn't we have replied...

Charlie, so sorry you were bothered by the noise. Maybe next time you golf you will check if a polo game is being played and if so, choose another golf course so the noise doesn't bother you.

Think how you would feel if you posted an opinion then were bombasted with all the negative replies. If you say it would make you feel welcome, then I am speechless.

Ready to be mud-faced...

To the OP, it is a big deal. His right to say so. To the average person, I imagine it seems a bit far fetched to be the problem or issue that he claims. I'm still having a hard time visualizing how noise from the polo field can affect a golfer on Glenview...it's really not all that close.

The folks who bought in Polo Ridge made that choice, presumably with the knowledge that they were close to Polo and softball. The OP can also make the choice not to play Glenview during home polo matches.

This is the first time I've heard anyone complain about noise from Polo.

I happen to live in Polo Ridge, almost directly across from the Polo Stadium and I love EVERYTHING about it. Please don't feel sorry for me as I am not a poor person and the people whom we bought our home from had no problem selling their home to us. I really can't think of a golf course anywhere that is perfectly quiet... love it when I finish my shot and the ducks squawk or should I say quack.
Walgreens & Walmart sell some great ear plugs.

Its important how you feel and how I feel whether we agree or disagree, it's with due respect to others that we listen and not judge and be respectful with our replies...whether we deem it far fetched or hard to visual or whether we have a difficult time how the noise can affect a golfer or if it's not that close, in our opinion. It's just our opinions and those opinions need to be respected. My concerns are the negative tones with the feedback here on this site.

I respectfully say to you that it is expected to read differing opinions on anything posted on this forum. If someone posts something in anger and the situation does not make the reader angry, naturally the response will be disagreement. Your post could be construed as being negative to some of the responses given on this thread and thus could also hurt and anger some of the posters. Over time as we read posts from the same reader we can usually get to know the mindset and attitudes of different posters.

The printed word lacks the nuances of the interchange between speakers and lacks the visual effects that soften a response. Some people are more direct in what they type and some people have the ability to tell someone to go to hell and make them look forward to the trip.

Gracie, You should be in the diplomatic corps. Well said....

Lets see I have been golfing some 40 years or so and I can not recall playing a golf course where there was not some kind of noise nearby. Be it lawn mowers or an airplane or from a nearby house or business it happens. One of my favorite courses to play is TPC Tampa, which just happens to be located on the flight path to Tampa International Airport and also hosts a senior tour stop. Now if someone in my group is talking as I am trying to hit a shot then yes I do find that distracting but not some noise off in the distance.
And for the record I am not one who continually praises the developer for anything not that I see the relevance in that subject here.
