OP - I also read your post as one in jest - not a complaint. Guess it's that half empty/half full thing!

I worked at two golf courses where this was a problem. It turns out that, in Massachusetts anyway, the golf course is responsible for any damage or injury that occurs.

I worked at one public course that actually was ordered by the courts to change the design of a golf hole because balls were frequently flying into a neighbor hood. A child was hit by one while playing in his yard. The thing that was troubling from the courses point of view is that the golf course was there before the development. When the golf course was built there was nothing by trees where these homes now stand. A developer went in, cleared the land, put in infrastructure and built numerous homes. People bought the homes with the full knowledge that the golf course was there.

The courts felt that the safety of the pubic trumped the fact that the homes came after the golf course.

At another course a hole ran right along the edge of a public road. Several cars were hit by golf balls during the five years that I worked there. People would come to the club house and sure enough, the club was responsible for paying for the damages.

The club planted trees and erected a fence to help to minimize the situation, but still occasionally, cars would get hit.

One time while working on hvac equipment on the roof of a strip mall in Natick Massachusetts I soon learned the driving range was nearby. Luckily I carried a hard hat in my service truck and the equipment helped protect me as well.

Errant golf ball accidents are interesting with different outcomes. In my brief research I found that the Courts are not consistent in placing blame for the damage that occurs from an errant golf ball. There are different laws in different States but more important it can depend on local statutes and their interpretation by the courts. Outcomes can also be influenced by your attorney.

Things can get pretty dicey when a personal injury,or worse case a death, occurs from an errant golf ball. Lets hope none of us are involved in this type of situation. Fore.

Hmm. We have drawings for controlled goose hunts on the two courses here in north KC. The hunts run from 12/1 to 2/28 and we alternate the closure of the two courses each week so the golfers and hunters don't mingle together.

Now if I could get a shot to bounce off a gator and onto the green all would be well.

Hit a moving Villages Trolly on 466 on the fly. Told the guys I was just showing that The Villages is a golfing community. Cars are a lot harder. Did not make par.

Was driving my golf cart on the cart path along BV Blvd along the Virginia golf course a few years back and saw an errant golfball bounce 10-15 feet in front of my cart on the path and go over my cart and continue its merry way :)

I was playing Palmetto last year and having a bad day of golf. Tee shot went left and onto 466A. Bounce Bounce Bounce, ended up in Fruitland Park. HA HA HA!!! Best tee shot of my career with a 3000 yard drive :) Jordan Speith, beware :)
