The point system is a little too complicated to explain here. Call the golf management office. Or better yet, go to the Golf 101 classes offered by the Rec Department.

Basically, players are assessed points for playing or worse, making a reservation and not showing up. Then when you apply for a future tee time, preference is given to the players with the fewest points. The system is designed to give everyone a chance to reserve tee times and play, giving less preference to players who try to play more often and really penalizing players who make a reservation and don't show up (thereby depriving someone who wanted to play from the opportunity).

You need to get the rules so you understand the system.

Like I said before, we have never been assessed penalty points because of rain. Even on marginally cold days, those who called the shack and cancelled for cold were not assessed penalty points - just the one point that they would normally get for playing.

This is a direct quote from the link provided above:

Thanks.....once they assign the points it is impossible to get it reversed. I played in the rain and did not get charged but in the past I have been charged added points fir canceling when it rained.

One point for play, two points if you cancel a reservation before the day of play and three points if you cancel day of play. No points assigned if the course is closed and one play point assigned if you cancel due to weather. The brochure linked below explains the policy as does the free Good Golf school.

Thanks SPK7951!! - We haven't come down full time yet (34 days and counting...), but this is the best simple explanation I've seen yet.

Just so that everyone is clear on this point, the points are neither assessed by the starter, ambassador nor any other golf course personnel. The points are strickly from the Tee Time Reservation system and personnel at the Golf Administration office in Spanish Springs. You should direct your inquiries and complaints there at 352-753-4653.
